Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. Combine the sugar, 1/4 cup butter, liqueur, nuts and eggs in a large mixing bowl. Add the flour mixture and beat until smooth. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush lightly with the remaining butter. Set aside.
  2. Sprinkle the 1/4 cup of flour on a flat surface. Knead the dough for 5 minutes. Shape the dough into 2 6-by-2 1/2-inch logs. Place on the baking sheet. Bake until golden, about 25 minutes. Cool on a rack.
  3. Cut the loaf crosswise into 1-inch slices. Place the slices, cut side up, on the baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Turn once after 10 minutes. Cool and store in a airtight container.
