Everyone loves a shiny new thing…and don’t get me wrong, I have been known to get intrigued, too. But what I’ve learned is more important than shiny and new, is consistency and excellence. And a few years ago, a lovely little BYO in Old City named Olea entered the restaurant scene. What has truly impressed me with this delightful neighborhood restaurant has been how it continues to delight us at every visit.

Upon entering, you’ll always feel welcome by the staff…Luis ensures that. You can tell he loves his cozy Mediterranean spot as well as the guests who come in to dine and enjoy the delicious specialties offered.

Soon after ordering, you’ll find a generous portion of warm pita, hummus, and green olives placed in the middle of your table. We also recently enjoyed my favorite appetizer which I order each time…tender octopus with chorizo, potatoes, and a romesco sauce which you will want to literally lick from the plate.

For his entrée, hubs ordered their signature pork chop with fingerling potatoes and asparagus (he has yet to order anything different…it’s that good). This chop is huge and the best pork dish either of us have ever experienced. It is perfectly cooked… juicy, tender, and flavorful, plus it’s covered with a creamy mustard sauce which perfectly compliments the pork.

I love fish and this time ordered the orange roughy with risotto and broccolini. It always astounds me how many restaurants fail to cook fish properly, but not here. The orange roughy was delicately crispy on the outside and cooked perfectly.

The service is always warm and impeccable, and Luis always makes his guests feel like old friends. I’m so grateful they are in the neighborhood. 💗

Please note: the restaurant is cash only. 💵
