Master Chef is
back I don’t ever enter anything
half-heartedly two expert judges to
decide who wins we’re looking for a
great cook who can make it as a
professional someone to turn our
exceptional food Under Pressure I think
I can win the competition I wouldn’t
have come here had I not the prize to
work in a top
restaurant this competition just get
gets
tougher whoever wins it’s going to
change their
life I’d love to win Master
Chef Master Chef is going
large these six contestants all want to
become the next star restaurant chef but
in this program only one winner will get
through to Friday’s
quarterfinal they face three tough tests
they have to invent a dish from scratch
we have got more traffic on this plate
than Oxford Street they have to survive
the pressure of working in a
professional kitchen check on one the
Herring rose on toes to follow and they
have to impress the judges with their
own recipes how did you ever believe
that was going to get you through the
quarterfinal of Master all in just two

days well welcome to
masterchief you are here here to try and
prove to us that you can cook at the end
of this three of you are going home your
time
starts
now it’s the quick elimination test
deciding which three stay are Judges JN
tood Top Chef and
restaur all I would like somebody to do
is take those beautiful ingredients and
make them something so wonderful that we
go wow you can cook and food writer and
ingredients expert Greg Wallace six
people want to follow their dream change
their life make it as Pros get off to a
good start nice plate of food you’re on
your
way the contestants have 40 minutes to
invent a dish and cook it from any of
today’s ingredients which are runner
beans Rosemary garlic soy sauce Penta
aboro rice parmesan cheese plums
mackerel and
lamb Alan there’s a lot of work going on
here for a few ingredients some really
nice smoked fish some arboria rice I’m
making a risotto with that macel risotto
some Parmesan season it properly cheese
and fish good combination we’ll see
won’t we Gardener Allen’s ultimate dream
is to combine his two great passions I
have a passion for skiing I’d love to
run a chalet to combine skiing and
cooking to me is is the

ideal accountant Susanna wants to swap
her desk job for her own restaurant in
Greece CU I’m half Greek I’ve got some
heavy cooking influences from my Greek
side of my
family what do you do for a day job
Susanna I’m an accountant is that why
you want to change your life I love
cooking added to that I’m an
accountant wow you’ve got 25 minutes
left

front of me practices law no I’m not

Rona hopes there aren’t too many slip

dream I hope I’m not too nervous I hope
that I don’t get know to the extent that
I can’t show what I can
do what’s your job Jerry I’m a trainer I
train uh managers and how to be
motivated how to be positive Greg how to
be up there go out on the life and take
what you want and hopefully that’s what
I’m doing here here business motivator
Jerry knows exactly what he wants from
this
competition I would like to become the
local celebrity CHF perhaps I’ll only do
that in Northern Ireland perhaps I’ll
only do it in
Belfast but that’s where I see my future
and that’s that’s what I would like to
do through this

competition businesswoman Venicia wants
to start writing about more than just
project
managing I would like to be a food
writer writing about food is something
which comes from
within what inspires you to cook I
basically love um cooking the spices so
sit me in front of a spice spice racker
I’m a happy
woman you have just 15 minutes and three
of you will be gone
home father of three Ian hopes that
winning Master Chef will get him closer
to running his own country
kitchen my style is rustic I really like
using basic seasonal ingredients then
trying to make them a bit more exciting
Ian you’re here cooking do you want to
change what you do now and become
professional is that right I do really
yes I’ve reached a sort of point in me
life where I can I can think about
moving on to to to uh kind of new
challenges guys we knew would go fast
there’s only 5 minutes and we’re going
to see some food

your time is up ladies and gentlemen on
the plate
please wannabe food writer venisha hopes
her spiced Lamb with potatoes will show
the judges what she can
do I like the idea of what you’re doing
doing the breadcrumbs the mint and the
Rosemary it’s a great way to season a
piece of
lamb strong flavor of Rosemary strong
flavor of garlic the potatoes are cooked
really really well I’ve got the strange
for you can cook the beans still got a
little bit of crunch in them but they’re
not raw I don’t think it’s a bad start
at
all rustic cook Ian is risking his
Country Kitchen dream on lamb cooked
with rosemary tomato and onion a side of
RAB beans in soy sauce garlic mashed
potatoes and a plum
Chutney you stir fried the RAB
beans what did you stir FR them in um
there’s some soy and some sesame oil and
some garlic it’s a kaleidoscope I think
it shows a cook who’s not yet that
confident we have got more traffic on
this plate than Oxford
Street personal injury lawyer Rona has
made fish cakes with a tomato salsa but
what will the judges
think it’s a very nice sweet salsa a
little bit of crunch of onion and potato
has been bashed about nice and smooth I
think you’ve done very well thank
you soft on the inside crisp on the
outside lovely rich um flavor from that
smoked mackerel you know what Rona for
first round with those ingredients I
think you’ve done
okay wannabe celebrity chef Jerry hopes
his Lamb with sweet tomato sauce and
potato boxy cake is good enough to get
him
through I’m going to take that off cuz I
don’t think the parmesan cheese and that
potato belong together at all right
let’s try this
slam it is good lamb you can get the
Rosemary in there
great boxy with or without the cheese I
like
that accountant Susanna is banking on
her pan fried palenta with a garlic
tomato salsa and rosemary topping to
make her a
winner you took the readymade palenta
you sliced it then you made a tomato
sauce it’s not really showing a huge
amount of cookery skill is it but it
tastes
good they are intense flavors but
Susanna they’re raw flavors the flavors
of raw garlic it’s flavor of raw Penta
mhm plent rather dull mhm there’s too
much Rosemary and it’s
raw this is not a great start mhm
Gardener Allan is hoping to impress with
a smoked fish risoto topped with
Parmesan cheese will it be enough to get
him closer to his ski shalet
dream I have got serious doubts over
smoked fish and cheese mhm
with this the smoked fish is so strong
that the cheese is already going to get
through anyway and I’m pleased what’s
underneath here mate I picked through
the uh salad leaves and picked out some
rocket just to give it a peppery taste
the problem is that leaves will Wilt
like that they actually don’t do
much the risoto is well flavored with
vegetable stock I’m pretty well
impressed thanks for your efforts off
you
go
Master Chef six people came in here
waned to live their dream and now we’re
going to try and work out who stays and
who
goes I think Ian is so far away from a
complete cook plums Tomatoes lamb Mash R
of beans cooked in s sauce to do a plate
that busy show was very nervous and
amateur cook I think Ian’s got to go I
thought okay we got loads of stuff
everybody to use it and I did go with
the top suzanna’s mistakes are
completely Elementary there’s no way you
would sprinkle the top of anything with
a handful of chopped up raw Rosemary I
mean that’s akin to messing up a slice
of toast if I don’t get through I’ll be
really kind of upset with myself that
I’ve not done better raw garlic in a
tomato sauce fried tasteless palenta in
a pan Susan’s going to go doesn’t she
how do you feel about Rona I think she
was the most inventive one here to make
fish cakes I’m really pleased with that
and not that they were good fish cakes
it was okay it was okay I think I let
myself down terribly by being so nervous
they were really good fish cakes we have
to give it to Rona okay Venicia I got to
say I think the vena’s ideas are very
good she was making a crust with the
Rosemary and the mint and the
breadcrumbs she made very good chips
right let’s put venisha through with
venisha and Rona through and Ian and
Susanna out there’s only one place left
for either Jerry or Alan now Alan put
parmesan with smoked fish and then
leaves underneath the parmesan to smoke
fish I mean there are some glaringly bad
mistakes there the fish and the cheese I
actually thought they went together
really well it may not be something
they’d order in a restaurant but I
actually really liked it I think it was
a very good dish the fish and the cheese
did actually go okay because it was a
small amount of it he made a roto he has
got some skills there and he’s thinking
okay Jerry made that boxy but the boxy
was good I believe that if they can give
me the opportunity to cook my food then
I can show the guys that I can’t cook
I’m a good cook that dish he brought up
to us was unattractive it was shabby it
was confused it wasn’t quite right I’d
rather Jerry than Allan I’d rather Alan
than

takes some time because we have to find
people that we believe are going to go
further in this competition

done this is absolutely amazing I did
start off pretty nervous and it’s made
me feel much more settled it’s a real
confidence Beast I feel sort of ready to
take on the challenge I’m really really
pleased that I’ve gone through I’m now
looking back over what the judge has
said and I’m thinking okay perhaps they
did see something in what I could the
further end the competition we go the
more difficult it’s going to get got to
be focused I got to do my very very best
do I think I can win it yeah I wouldn’t
have came along of a
hand for the moment they can relax but
tomorrow the pressure is on as they face
two more daunting
tests it’s early morning on day two of
the competition and the contestants
arrive at

roast overlooking bur Market it serves
traditional British Fair hi Rona welcome
to Rose welcome today the contestants
will have to show head chef Lawrence Kio
that they’re worthy of a place in his
kitchen about 140 BT okay let’s
go after a morning of prepping and
learning the lunchtime Rush begins and
the first orders come in check on one
the Herring Road on toast to follow
rona’s cooking Herring row with lemon
and capers served on toast that’s it
that’s it let’s go let’s plate them
herrings but her nerves are already
letting her down her Herring rows are
ready for plating but the toast isn’t
done long for that toast 30 seconds okay
we ready to go and when it gets stuck in
the toaster she has a moment of near
fatal stupidity no stop stop stop never
never stick sticking metal into toast
ERS doesn’t impress the chef Che on one
onion soup one poached egg salad to
follow one halib yeah Jerry is in charge
of a poached halibut dish served with a
muscle and tomato broth 32 main
away but only one halbot dish is ordered
and not wanting to stand around Jerry
starts helping out with the steak
section because the halit was going so
slow there’s no point in stting about
and waiting you got to get stuck in and
help it guys
venisha is alone in the more Serene
pastry room where she’s in charge of the
apple pie and the elderflower
mousse both are already cooked so it’s
all about presentation and
[Music]
speed when the pudding does finally get
onto the the plate it’s a
disaster looks a bit messy around the
edge we really couldn’t serve that one
okay very disappointed so hopefully
things will improve hopefully Jerry
listen up a rum steak
medium Jerry’s been such a help on the
steak section that he’s now been put in
charge of it Jerry one more rum steak
two medium Chef lovely excellent okay
Chef yes nice one Jerry are we enjoying
it people yes yes sir let’s go service
pick up please fabulous and we’ had the
whole range so far we must be somewhere
close to 40 staks already 2 hours in the
restaurant’s very busy in the pastry
room Venicia still can’t keep up with
the pace of
service it’s taking quite a long time so
just bear in mind however long you’re
takeing there someone wishing they could
have it on front of them
right oh after her near-death toaster
experience Rona has pulled herself
together and is now producing faultless
restaurant food you’re plating the
Herring Rose now lovely fantastic I feel
so much more confident I feel so much
calmer nice presentation though yeah you
copy the present perfectly I feel as I’m
operating as a normal person again well
done
everyone with service now over John and
Greg meet head chef Lawrence Kio to find
out how the contestants got on found it
a bit stressful first but she she bedded
in carried on with the rest of the
service I think Rona was fine Venicia
there was no sense of urgency that I
think she probably enjoyed today but her
kitchen awareness and and stature and
manner was not what I would be looking
for in a good cook did Jerry do okay I
think in his heart he’s got the making
of a good cook he’s enjoying it he’s
he’s passionate let’s cut to the chase
who’s your favorite oh God it’s a real
it’s a f one between Rona and Jerry I
think at the end of the day
Jerry now they’re straight back to
Master Chef HQ to cook their best two
course
meal in round one Rona overcame her
nerves impressing the judges with her
fish cakes and she proved competent in
the kitchen despite a disastrous
error venisha also impressed in the
first round but found the pace of the
restaurant overwhelming can she now pull
it back
Jerry’s scruffy lamb dish only just got
him through but he’s sha in the
professional kitchen can he now impress
in the final

test there is a quarterfinal place at
stake cook with all your heart 1 hour
make your mom and dad
proud they have to cook a two course
meal of their own
design only one of them will win a place
in Friday’s
quarterfinal Jerry how are you fine what
are your dishes my dishes are uh
seasoned pork fillet accompanied by
carrot and parion up mix and some champ
which is uh Irish potatoes one of a our
description and for dessert we’re having
uh cheesecake with a little surprise in
the
bottom what’s the surprise well I told
you it wouldn’t be a
surprise Jerry’s cooking a dish close to
his heart and hopes it will send him on
his way to becoming a celebrity chef
Jerry I think he’s okay he’s doing his
pork full he’s got his chat that’s great
strawberry cheesecake that’s
fantastic you have had 15 minutes
already nervous cook Rona is hoping to
show off her technical skills with some
difficult
dishes Rona what is it you’re going to
be cooking for us um I’m going to do a
sweet potato toin so you’re making your
own pasta yeah and pudding um back laava
with grilled bit what’s a back laava
it’s some layers of filo pastry and then
chopped uh walnuts and you layer it now
I want to ask you one one small question
uh I said to you yesterday please be
careful in the kitchen it’s a dangerous
plate today you decided to stick a knife
in a
toaster
I we got Rona making her own pasta doing
the filling
the Bava not too sure felo pastry really
greasy I’m not sure that’s the right
idea oh you told us about your lover
spices didn’t you look at
that wannabe food writer venisha is
showcasing her Mastery of spices with an
Indian inspired menu what are you going
to cook for us Venicia I’m going to be
cooking a
madrass fish curry a cauliflower and
potato
gargy and and a pee and mushroom Curry a
pee and mushroom Curry yeah I’m wrong
aren’t I we haven’t got a pea Curry
followed by a fish curry have we uh no
you’ve got um a a fish curry and a
mushroom and pea Curry and a caulif
potato

wow Venicia has got a lot going on do we
really need two curries and

done once again venisha is struggling to
get her food out on time there’s not a
single thing plated up yet it’s not 2
minutes and then played it up it’s
You’ve Got 2 minutes yeah I understand
that I’m just about to start plating up
now
all
done Rona has made her own sweet potato
tortillini with sage
butter then is hoping a back lover with
figs will sway the judges you made your
own py you rolled them out by hand
didn’t use a
machine the flavors are okay I think
that look scruffy you know we’re going
for a quarterfinal place
here
what it needs is a lot more sauce more
sage and butter because it’s now very
very sweet talini to
baklava sweet but not so sweet that it
starts itching in the back of your
throat and the Fig is a nice pleasant
cleanser I think it’s very
pleasant You Now understand why people
start dancing after dessert when they
eat stuff like that I think it’s really
really really good thank you Ron you’re
you you are an intelligent person you’re
you’re a lawyer you know exactly what
you’re doing you have a professional
life you tell me right now why you want
to change your life and go to become
Master Chef I don’t understand why you
find it so hard to understand well you
haven’t worked as a lawyer maybe that’s
it fair
comment for her main course venisha has
made a Madras fish curry a potatoes
mushroom and pea Curry and cauliflower
bie then she’s made bananas with a fruit
nut toffee and rum
sauce this is hugely spiced food this is
what I enjoy cooking this is the food I
like I must be fair I thought it’s going
to be awful I like the taste of it but I
do not think that many people would
actually go wow that’s great I think
they go that’s
interesting
I think all three of them individually
absolutely brilliant sling them all
together I’d stop and start again
forisha so let’s move from this main
course to our
bananas it’s going to have to taste
fantastic it tastes great it looks
absolutely
shocking quite a bit of booze in there
Venicia oh H I bet it’s fun Friday night
dinner around your
house how did you ever believe that was
going to get you through it qu a final
of M looking like that it’s the flavors
that’s what I’m interested in that’s
what I think is the most important
thing Jerry has cooked roast pork fillet
served with champ and a carrot and
parsnip
mix and for dessert a strawberry cream
cheesecake with a surprise for the
judges you see we taste food all the
time and my mouth is watering
potato is creamy and smooth but
disappears completely with the sweetness
of the parps and the carrot y it
combines with the flavor of your pork
and afterwards we have the chili heat
that’s around the outside of your pork I
don’t think there is anything wrong with
your
cooking the pork f it seasoned so well
but it needs just a little bit more
right we leave your pork alone
and we bring in your
PUD you said I’m going to have a
surprise in there well hopefully the
surprise has not many people put the
lure in the
bottom nice taste of the lure at the
bottom which is also part of the smell
nice idea of the concentrated fruit
very very
good sticky toffee base the creamy sort
of Center the strawberries in there then
it just goes a bit
flat I believe that what I have here
today I can take forward in Leaps and
Bounds thanks for your efforts off you
go
wow we’re looking for somebody who has
that basic skill somebody who can
actually make it as a professional
Venicia can play with spices quite well
but for some reason just wants to Chuck
them all on on a plate together Briant
but there was no way I can put a dessert
of bananas covered in brown mess to the
next round I know she can say it’s all
about the flavor but you must try very
hard not to make your plate look like a
pile of sick if the way my food looks on
the plate is putting people off eating
it then that’s not a good thing the look
of that dessert where was that lady
coming from venisha goes so that leaves
us Jerry and Rona what I’d really like
to say is that when I eat food from
Master Chef it really gets me excited it
makes me feel so great that it makes me
almost implode and today there wasn’t a
shake there wasn’t a shadow from Jerry’s
food you think so see I like a man who
comes on here and he’s cooking champ and
the way that he rolled that pork in bits
of chili and flavorings I thought was
lovely cuz I think that piece of pork
was not what it should have been and I
don’t think that strawberry cheesecake
was that much but he did make a really
nice biscuit base and he put a lure
through it and it worked I’m knackered
I’m really really tired I feel like I’ve
done three days work on top of it Haven
said that I have loved every second of
it it’s been fabulous rona’s talini was
so bad it was sweet it had no sage and
butter sauce Sage butter is really
really wrong but the bakar is good it
would be fantastic to get through to the
next round um it’s the more you do in
this process the more you want to do and
the more you know that you can do the
only person today who I think tried to
take it to the next level at all had to
be Rona John if I had to go and eat the
whole two courses I eat

we have made a
decision we have got a
winner Jerry well
done well done
congratulations it’s disappointing but
I’m really really pleased for Jerry cuz
I know how over the moon he’ll be about
it
judges have presentational issues with
me so I’m not entirely surprised I’m a
word person um I’m a
word I talk for a living and at this
moment in time I think it’s about the
second time in my life I don’t know what
to say it has been emotional I’m in the
quarterfinals and I’m just over the moon

this it’s not what I expect as a main CA
I don’t like it very
much this semi-finalist we pick guy or
girl has got to be bursting with
promise

Given the comments I was expecting the judges to say that none of them made the grade.
4.12 – that is disgusting . Sweating all over the place . Absolutely vile . Should ''motivate'' himself to lose some weight and he wouldn't be sweating chopping onions.
Guess who I thought was so slow and didn’t deserve to be there? I bet you know. I usually never say anything like that but 😮 I didn’t enjoy one person o here at all.

It takes me 3 hours to do a shepherd's pie😂 i couldn't cope in that kitchen…I'd have to have pre cooked things 😂😂
Jerry served 3 little circles of food..no creativity and carrots and parsnips chopped up together is awful. Rona's food looked great. I would love to eat the tortellini..with a bit more sauce.
