First time grower here! At the bottom of the stem of my Chili plant is growing something weird. Unfortunately I dont know which Chili variety it is, since I got the seeds of a friend. Any Idea what this is and how I should treat it? Thanks for helping out!

They are roots
This is the sign that he wants deeper :3.
Root nodules.. add a bit more soil or just ignore if it’s healthy….also the dark stripes on the stem are normal too.. looks like a healthy plant.. crack on!!
Stick you tongue down there and go lululululululul all over it
that is why you fill your pots up to the very top.
They’re [adventitious roots](https://www.britannica.com/science/adventitious-root)! Just about every pepper I’ve grown has had them to some extent.
I bury the stem up to the top of those when I pot up because I figure it can’t hurt to have more roots.
