Whataburger’s Whatacatch sandwich and platter are slated to return to the fast food chain’s menu just in time for Lent.
Every year, around the time of Lent, Texas’ favorite burger joint chain offers two fish dishes – the Whatacatch sandwich and Whatacatch platter – in addition to its usual beefy offerings.
Both the Whatacatch sandwich and Whatacatch platter feature fish filets made from “wild-caught Alaskan pollock” fried in a seasoned Panko breadcrumb coating.
The sandwich is topped with lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce and tucked in a soft bun.
The platter features two filets alongside french fries and tartar sauce.
According to Click2Houston.com and QSR Magazine, Whataburger will be serving its Whatacatch options beginning Tuesday, March 4, and will continue through Friday, March 21.
The Whatacatch may not be the only limited time item returning to the menu. The fast food chain hinted at the possibility of bringing the Mushroom Swiss Burger back in an Instagram post Friday.
A caption above a photoshopped image of a dog and dolphin leaping through the air reads, “what it would feel like if we actually brought back the mushroom swiss.” In the post caption, the company typed the prayer hands emoji.
Fans rejoiced in the post comments saying they hope their dreams come true and the beloved limited item will grace the menu again.
In other Whataburger news, the burger joint will soon be bringing its iconic digital Whataburger Museum of Art (WMOA) to life as a physical museum at SXSW 2025. Whataburger is an official partner of SXSW this year.
Both SXSW badge holders and the general public will be able to enjoy the showcase of multi-media fan-created art, special commissioned pieces and installations on March 8-9. The Whataburger Food Truck will also be making an appearance handing out samples on March 8.
