Everything was excellent. Brisket and ribs were perfect. And we had some leftovers.

Famous Daves was the first “real” BBQ i had. Will always hold a special place in my heart even thought i know its not the best.

Famous Dave’s gave me the worst food poisoning I e ever had in my life. Projectile vomiting at 2AM. On my wife’s birthday. Which she had to clean up.

I wish we still had one, I loved the thanksgiving buffet it was all the thanksgiving food but also ribs! I love ribs and they have good ribs for sure

    Smoky D’s or Jethro’s
are my go to when I’m in Des Moines

Famous Dave’s is like Olive Garden

I’m a Kansas citian that loves their BBQ and I lived in MN for a few years and we would get famous Dave’s for customer events catered. I never liked it but I will tell you this, I love their Devils Spit sauce for things like BBQ chicken and I put a little in my chili to give it a little BbQ taste with some heat. I don’t use it as a normal BBQ sauce because that would be sacrilege in KC lol.

I feel like 99% of posts here wouldn’t get any hate if you said “real Texas BBQ from “Hip BBQ Texas”, $49.99 a pound for meat, $10.99 for 8 oz. sides.” People would like it to the moon.

Their wings were good when they had the Wilbur sauce. It’s the only thing I ever liked from there.

I’m not sure how I feel about corn as a bbq side. But that’s a me thing.

    Looks pretty good!

I like using famous Dave’s rib, blue ribbon, and chicken rubs. Same flavors but made at home.

Dave’s is about as consistent as the ice cream machine at McDonalds.

I once got a rack of ribs so fucking fire I ordered another right after finishing a whole rack myself. Rack 2 was shit.

Cornbread is 10/10 every time for people who like dessert level sweet cornbread though.

  11. Famous Dave’s is BBQ gone corporate. Can’t fault it for that, it’s the way of the world. I went to THE Famous Dave’s in Hayward before it burned down, it comes from good stock. But it’s now mass produced. Never going to be as good as local food, but not bad for what it is.

Not a lot of BBQ options in my area and a lot of it’s expensive and less good than Famous Dave’s, so I give them some love. Their Mac, Cornbread Muffins and Brisket (and the burgers and salads made with them) have always been better than most mom & pop places I like in my area. They’re less consistent on a lot of their other stuff, but I make the 20 min drive to support them a few times a year and always bring back more Cornbread Muffins and Mac!

The one near me shut down probably 8 years ago. They had some kick ass corn bread.

Love Dave’s full rack w/Devils spit, Wilbur beans, cornbread & wings. The bread pudding is insanely good. Not really a fan of much else.

Famous Dave’s was my first “real” bbq and turned me on to what it could be. It’s not the best but I still liked it. Closest one to me closed down a long time ago so if I was close to one I would totally hit up just because I don’t get the chance to normally. Love their corn muffins.

  16. Looks gas but they got me fucked yo eating one little baby cornbread muffin with all that

  17. I don’t see much actual BBQ meat. Stuff like corn and fries does nothing for me. Just useless filler.

I miss Famous Dave’s. It might be a chain BBQ place, but I loved it. The idiot who owned the location here in Erie, PA closed it down and replaced it with an upscale overpriced steak house. Which proceeded to go out of business within a month.

The location is now a beauty salon. 😡

The sleeper best thing is the spicy pickles. That on a pulled pork pork with blues hog smokey mountain sauce. Game changer.

Devils spit is an excellent sauce, good on everything, i use it a lot on chicken.
