COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A rooftop Columbus restaurant and bar is closing to make way for a new “Mediterranean meets boho” eatery opening this summer.
Lumin Sky Bar and Kitchen, the restaurant on the top floor of the AC by Marriott Columbus Downtown at 517 Park St. that opened in 2021, is shuttering to become Astra Rooftop this July. Named after “Ad Astra,” meaning “to the stars” in Latin, the eatery will perch high over Goodale Park with views of the Downtown skyline.

“With a Mediterranean meets boho aesthetic, Astra’s interior is designed to feel organic, yet lively — allowing the views from the floor to ceiling windows be the star of the show,” the announcement said. “Through bold flavors and exceptional cocktails, Astra Rooftop aims to create memorable meals and shared moments that linger with you long after the last bite.”

One Hospitality, a restaurant and hospitality group headquartered in the Short North, is launching Astra with Concord Hospitality and Continental Hospitality Group.
Astra’s menu was developed by One Hospitality’s culinary director Branden Weigel, previously the head chef at Forno in the Short North. The menu will feature American cuisine with hints of European and Spanish influences, with each dish “at the intersection of approachability and creativity, with inventive small plates, dramatic presentations,” the announcement said.
“Astra Rooftop is about creating a space that feels like an escape, but remains rooted in the
core of what matters; great food, well-made drinks, exceptional service,” said Justin Kintz, One Hospitality executive director. “One Hospitality’s return to Park Street has been part of our plan for several years and we are thrilled to be doing it with such amazing partners.”

Park Street’s AC hotel occupies the space where several previous One Hospitality venues were located, the announcement said. Concord Hospitality and Continental Hospitality Group, in partnership with One Hospitality, opened the hotel in 2021.
The opening of Astra is the first of a series of new concepts One Hospitality is opening on the property. Within the coming months, the following are opening on the hotel’s first floor: a sports-centric bar and lounge, a “health-centric” restaurant, a “high-end gaming and entertainment” experiences bar, and a two-story bar with an expansive patio.
