He visited a venue that’s been hailed for having the ‘best pizza in Manchester’

Manchester City star Ruben Dias has been pictured visiting two top Italian restaurants in Greater Manchester this week.
The 27-year-old Portuguese footballer, who signed a six-year contract with City in 2020, was first seen visiting the Vero Moderno restaurant in Salford earlier this week. The Chapel Street venue is popular with footballers, with Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish having both visited in the last year.
Ruben was pictured at the restaurant, which is known for serving authentic Italian food, alongside fellow player Rodri, who has been with the Manchester club since 2019.
Posting on their Instagram page, Vero Moderno wrote of the pair’s visit: “A huge thank you to Rodri & @rubendias for a fantastic afternoon filled with top-tier company, great food, and plenty of laughs. Until next time, lads!”
The restaurant, which has been featured in the Good Food Guide, has been described as having ‘authentic, modern Italian food’ and for having ‘exceptional service’. Its menu includes the likes of antipasti, sharing platters, Italian burgers, pizzas, pasta and mains including fresh monkfish in a lemon and saffron sauce and oven-baked chicken roulade.

And just hours after the Salford’s restaurant’s post was shared online, another restaurant was quick to share their own encounter with Rúben. The player also took the time out of his busy schedule to visit Ciaooo Pizza.
The pizzeria, on Angel Street in the city centre near Mackie Mayor, has been going since 2019 and has been hailed by many as the best place for Neapolitan pizza in the city. It also has its own garlic bread takeaway in Shudehill.

Posting on Instagram today, Ciaooo Pizza said of Ruben’s visit: “Yesterday [February 5] @rubendias came to our restaurant to try our pizza!” The post was met with likes and comments from the pizzeria’s loyal fanbase, with one person adding: “Best pizza in Manchester. You guys need to open another one.”
At the Italian Awards last year, which celebrates venues and businesses across the country representing the British Italian community, Ciaooo Pizza was nominated in both the Best Family Business and Best Pizza awards.
