I’ve come to enjoy coming up with some sort of theme when meeting up with friends for wine, so was very excited to enjoy two very different wines from one of my all-time favorite producers.

1998 Cabassaou: Double decanted two hours prior to serving. Tight upon opening but became more expressive with time. Deceptively dark in color. No noticeable bricking. This wine is in the perfect place for my taste. Blackberry, plum, leather, and gamey/umami notes. Simultaneously fruity and savory.

2017 Tempier Rose: This wine benefits from some time in the glass or decanter. Good acidity and salinity. Lots of citrus notes, melon, and honeydew.

I’ve read that older Tempier bottles run the risk of overpowering brett, but this was fortunately not the case this time. Lovely stuff, and makes me want to buy more Kermit Lynch wines (I live in the US).
