Potatoes are one of the few crops that are better grown in grow bags and container instead of other urban gardening methods. You’re able to harvest every single potato, instead of always wondering if there’s one more. Top dressing the soil with compost, and hooking it up to irrigation makes the process almost automated, so if you’d like to learn more about that let me know in the comments. #growbags #growbaggardening #growpotatoes #growpotatoesincontainers #easygardeningideas #lowmaintenancegarden #containergardening #containergardeningideas #urbangardening

I’m going to show you how I grow potatoes and grow bags I harvested my previous potatoes about a month ago and before I started another round I need to remove some of the soil so I can Hill up the potatoes as they grow and shoot up this allows me to top dress the soil with some wonderful compost which adds a lot of nutrients and life back into the soil about a quarter inch of compost across the top of the new soil level is plenty particularly when using the really good stuff like Malibu compost after this I’ll move the two grow bags over to their previous location and then put in the seed potatoes it’s generally best to let eyes develop on your seed potatoes before planting them as you can see was the case with these russets I removed the Goof plugs from my drip irrigation and give the soil a good drench before adding in the soaker hose it would have been better practice to let my Yukon Golds develop eyes but I was feeling a little gung-ho today I hold down my soaker hose using Turf Staples which works wonderful and both of these are now completely ready to grow and almost no time at all we’ve got shoots coming up which means then it’s time to fill up the rest of the bag with soil and then let it grow I don’t count the days when growing potatoes I just wait until the plants die off and then it’s time to flip over the grow bag and do this whole thing again

  1. Bags and containers are a waste for potatoes. Sure they will "grow" but yields are a 80% less than the exact same footprint in the ground and twice the work.

  2. Thank you for this video I just need to ask a couple of questions I live in the North am I in a good area to grow potatoes like this, what time should I start planting them the weather here is so changeable should I grow them inside then put them outside I'm very new here 🙂HELP🤗🤗🤗

  3. Currently growing potatoes for the first time it was the first plant I decided to plant out out of around 20. It’s been maybe close to four weeks since I planted them I started seeing little dark green leaves pop up, so I waited a few days and then I decided to hill them and then they popped out again so in a few days, I’m gonna hill it again

  4. hiya! I'm wondering if these are a determinant or indeterminate variety of potatoes, and how many potatoes you placed per layer. It looked like you planted out 7 potatoes per layer…that seems like a lot to me but if it works, maybe I need to plant more per layer!

  5. I started this about a week ago, How long until I see something other than the soil I put over them? lol

  6. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7)
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Mark 2:17)

  11. Im doing my first round of potatoes this year. 3x 10 gal grow bags. I was pretty nervous that i was dping it wrong, but the more videos i watch, the more confident i get. They dont need much care, and are obvious when ready to harvest.
    I think I'll do fine.

  12. I’m growing potatoes for the first time in grow bags, and I’m at the point where it’s time too hill up, and I’m confused. When filing up the bag this means covering leaves and all till the bag is filled?
