Table III (or Table 3?) is a newly opened fine dining spot in Casablanca by Chef Fayçal Bettioui. We stumbled upon this place while literally researching fine dining places for our month-long Morocco trip this year. Morocco doesn't have Michelin starred places yet, so it was a good test of our instincts.

First thing's first: the restaurant is gorgeous. It's got very cozy lighting and The organic wood fixtures on the walls adds to the elegance of the place. From the dining room you have a view of the kitchen.

The food focuses mainly on elevating local ingredients, with flavors that range from classical french cuisine to japanese inspired: foie gras with cherries and brioche, a crab cake with an amazing shrimp bisque that blew my mind, an "everything bagel" with smoked salmon, local sardines in a tomato dashi and turbot with a plate of greens that tasted like spring. The wine pairing was also very decent, with wines from both abroad and Morocco.

If I had one criticism: the desserts were just ok. I think that I was spoiled by having a meal at Jordnaer a few months back which had the same sort of milk and honey concept, but perfected. So I was a bit like "well, it's kind of a copy, isn't it?" Then again, it was enjoyable enough, just that moment was a bit jarring for me personally.

Anyway, it was my second visit to Morocco and I was so happy to be able to find an establishment that was worthy to be called fine dining. A lot of our experiences so far were pretty disappointing here and this one actually satisfied that itch that we had. I really hope the restaurant stays open and improves in the next couple years. There's definitely a lot of potential and they have good groundwork for establishing a fine dining scene in Morocco.
