One of Toronto’s Michelin-starred restaurants has been recently recognized on a global scale.

At the 2025 World Luxury Restaurant Awards in Barcelona, Spain, the city’s Italian fine dining destination DaNico was honoured with three accolades at the end of October.

The restaurant took home the award for Best Haute Cuisine in North America, Best Italian Cuisine in North America, and was the global winner of Best Luxury Speciality Restaurant.

Established in 2015, the World Luxury Restaurant Awards are “the pinnacle of achievement in the luxury restaurant industry offering international recognition as voted by guests, travellers and industry players alike.”

More than 100,000 international voters cast their ballot each year during a four-week period to select the winners.

“DaNico’s triple win highlights our commitment to exceptional service, unparalleled hospitality, and unwavering dedication to offering guests an extraordinary journey through the best of both Italian and global culinary traditions,” said Daniele Corona, Michelin-starred chef and partner at DaNico.

DaNico

At DaNico, you’ll find Corona cooking up Italian food with a global influence. The restaurant is located inside of a former bank building at 440 College St. in Toronto’s Palmerston-Little Italy neighbourhood.

This spot is part of Liberty Entertainment Group, also known for Toronto restaurants that include Blueblood Steakhouse, Cibo Wine Bar and the Michelin-starred Don Alfonso 1890.

The restaurant opened in September 2023 as a collaboration between Corona, hospitality entrepreneur Nick Di Donato of Liberty Entertainment Group, and multi-starred chef Ernesto laccarino of Don Alfonso 1890 Group.

Originally from Naples, Corona previously led Don Alfonso 1890, and later DaNico in 2024 and 2025 to earn a coveted Michelin star. He has also been recognized as Chef of the Year by 50 Top Italy.

And earlier this summer while Coldplay was in town, their bass player, Guy Berryman, was even spotted dining at DaNico.

On the menu, customers can indulge in Pacific crab served over thin, noodle-like vegetables. Or try a house-made basil Bottini filled with smoked burrata.

Aside from DaNico, Vancouver’s H Tasting Lounge was also honoured this year at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards, along with Brasserie Alexandria, located in Picton, Ontario.
