Preparation

  1. Tear up five of the basil leaves and add them to a cocktail shaker along with the Scotch, Drambuie, syrup and lemon juice. Add ice and shake vigorously, then strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with the remaining basil leaf.
  • *To make lemon-grass ginger syrup: In a medium saucepan combine 2 cups sugar, 2 cups water, a peeled thumb-size knob of ginger and three chopped stalks of lemon grass. Simmer for 20 minutes, then strain. This will keep for several weeks, refrigerated.
