Chicago’s National Restaurant Association Show 2026 once again brought together the global foodservice industry this month, drawing thousands of exhibitors and restaurant professionals to McCormick Place for one of the world’s largest hospitality and dining trade events.

More than 2,000 exhibitors participated in this year’s show, showcasing new culinary products, restaurant technology, equipment, and emerging food trends shaping the future of dining in the United States and internationally.

Among the companies featured at the event was Grecian Delight | Kronos, the Greek-American food pioneer widely credited with popularizing gyros and Mediterranean cuisine across the United States.

The company’s participation at the 2026 show came nearly two years after Grecian Delight | Kronos celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024, marking half a century since its founding by Greek immigrant Peter Parthenis.

Founded in Chicago during the 1970s, the company helped introduce gyros to a much broader American audience at a time when Greek cuisine remained largely unfamiliar outside ethnic neighborhoods and family-owned restaurants. Over the decades, gyros evolved from a niche specialty into a staple found in restaurants, stadiums, food courts, universities, and retail stores throughout the country.

Grecian Delight | Kronos receives national recognition

At this year’s National Restaurant Association Show, Grecian Delight | Kronos showcased a range of Mediterranean-inspired products while also receiving national recognition through the prestigious Food and Beverage (FABI) Awards.

The company’s “Perfect Kebabs Halal Beef Kefta Links” received a “FABI Favorites” distinction, while its Creamy Feta Dip and Garden Feta Dip were also recognized among this year’s award-winning products. The awards highlight innovative food items expected to influence restaurant menus and consumer dining trends in the American market.

For many Greek Americans attending the Chicago event, the presence of Grecian Delight | Kronos represented more than business success. It reflected the broader story of Greek entrepreneurship in America and the transformation of traditional Greek food into part of everyday American dining culture.

Today, under the leadership of Peter Parthenis jr., the company has become one of the largest global manufacturers of ethnic foods, and the largest manufacturer of gyros in the world. Grecian Delight | Kronos produces over 350 products, from gyros and ready-to-eat meats to pitas, specialty flatbreads, falafel, hummus, dips, and spreads, sold in over 50,000 locations in America. It has three production facilities in Chicago and employs almost one thousand people. Products are shipped throughout the US and abroad to Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Europe.
