Preparation

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, soda, baking powder and salt.
  2. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles cornmeal.
  3. Add rolled oats and mix well.
  4. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature.
  5. To make the cookies, place mix in bowl, and add 1 egg,1 tablespoon milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden. Remove from sheet and store. Keeps eight months.
