I’m not really sure what’s going on here, but I suspect the person who said it was too little dough for the size of the bowl is probably correct.
I also want to add that when I make dough, I find it much more efficient to use the paddle attachment when mixing the dough, then switch to the dough hook when it’s ready to be kneaded.
Also, if you haven’t already, check out KA’s info on making dough:
Did you develop the gluten before adding the butter?

Gluten hasn’t been developed before adding butter

Update: ended up kneading it by hand. Hopefully it works out! [It’s rising now!](https://imgur.com/a/Bg9fJz9) The recipe says they don’t recommend kneading it by hand and I can see why. I haven’t exercised like this in a while LOL

I would have to agree with others that there is an issue with bowl height. I use the 6qt bowl lift KA for my brioche recipe that makes 2 loaves with no problem. It does take 20 minutes or more to get to a smooth, silky, shiny dough

Brioche require insane amounts of work. Most recipes I start with the beater and move to the hook after it comes together.

Looks like the dough hook needs to be lowered…I had to adjust mine when I first got it.Great machine and a real work horse!

When my KA doesn’t grab well I tip the bowl so it can get a bite.

You can try adjusting the height of your mixer. Google will tell you how depending on the brand.

lift the bowl

Get a bread machine for dough, then bake in oven. You need more kitchen appliances.

It took me a second to realize that KA is Kitchen Aid i.e. the mixer. I initially thought King Arthur flour and was confused!

If this is a heavy duty model, there’s a lever to raise the bowl.

Brioche and other high-fat doughs take a long time to come together and gather on the hook. Be patient.

Looks like cookie dough more so than bread dough. Also looks like the volume of dough might be too low for the KA dough hook to catch.
Can you share the recipe you’re using?
That’s way too little dough. The hook does barely touch it and thus can’t knead it.
Either make more dough, probably twice or three times as much, or take it out and knead by hand.
Do you need to lift the bowl?
Have you ever adjusted your bowl height? Here’s a video on how to do so. https://youtu.be/0dpMCjFAiBI
You need to double or triple that recipe.
