Pic doesn’t do it much justice, but when I was prepping these spuds the circled one was noticeably yellow. Is that normal or a bad potato? My KM just said let them worry about that one in the morning cause we were trying to get out ASAP for NYE.

If in doubt, throw it out.

It might be absolutely fine but if there’s a chance a customer might complain about it then it’s pointless trying to serve it.

probably overcooked and discolored. If it’s firm and has a normal smell and texture, it’s most likely safe BUT when in doubt, trash it.

It might have been exposed to sunlight and produced chlorophyll, on it’s way to being green?

Guys my eyes were recently opened to the wide variety of potato’s that exist. Even in our restaurant it seems to be seasonal, I didn’t know if that one was a different variety, going off, a little zesty, etc. if it’s still in the walk in when I show up I’ll eat it for the cause.

if it tastes fine and smells fine, it’s fine. bad potatoes have grey and brown spots inside and smell off before they’re cooked, kinda like a moldy/musty basement.

IT’s not a strong smell, tho, so ask someone who has a strong nose to check. I’m that autist with hypersensitivities and I always can detect mold before anyone else — you want a coupla me in your kitchen for safety purposes 🙂

Could be solanine which has diffused into the flesh during cooking.

It’s been turned into a poison potato by the cooking process. You can tell because the color is a little bit different.

Everybody who ate in that restaurant is going to die. Congratulations.

    For me? It’s fine probably

    In a restaurant setting? Toss

Why are you wasting time with this? Put your phone down and get back to prep before I put you on dish.

So I should not buy yellow potatoes , red potatoes , the potatoe was washed before cooking, , washer was making 7.25 a hour . There must be a certified cook , or a h1b in todays world a coming

TIL that there are non-yellow potatoes that are not disgusting (or are they?)
