Looks incredible, but they can eat my damn shorts for that price

BBQ is pricey but also very labor intensive. I understand the prices and that’s why I make my own.

I’m sure it’s good, but that just seems like a crazy amount of money for so little food. I understand it’s all very labor intensive, and I get the pricing. People pay it so they can charge it. But man, i personally wouldn’t be able to spend that much money on a meal like this. It honestly looks like a testing menu for peiole who want to try bbq. More so than an actual meal.

I eat at the Pit Room every time I’m in Houston, I’m always stuffed, and I’ve never spent more than $40. Their prices are fine in my experience; and their tacos are incredibly delicious and cheap.

So i would set you up with bbq catering for 24 people for $387…..

  6. barrtenderr

I took 5 of us there a couple weeks ago and didn’t spend half of that

  7. One person in this thread responding to everyone who said it was too much money. 🥱

We were at The Pit Room a few weeks ago, and honestly, I was a bit disappointed. Brisket was on the dry side with chewy bark, the guy slicing it cut it up into slices ranging from razor-thin to almost an inch thick, turkey waa cooked well but didn’t have all that much flavor, and the sauce seemed like a thin version of the spicy ketchup from Whataburger. And I know it has to do with the area, but the place was filled with nothing but smug finance bros and River-Oaks-type old people (was there for lunch in the middle of the week.

A fool and their money are easily separated

You could pretty much buy your own smoker, the groceries and the beer for that price.

Why is this thread so incredibly charged with anger? What is happening here?

  12. ants_taste_great

You could get that at HEB for less than $100

  13. banana_hammock6969

No damn way I’d pay that price. Not even half

  14. thetonytaylor

I don’t know if I’m more upset by the price tag or the fact that you have an entire loaf of white bread instead of some fresh baked rolls

  15. For those wondering, this was the order for 8 people (we had leftovers):
    3 lb brisket
    Whole chicken
    2 beef ribs
    1 venison sausage
    1 jalapeño cheddar
    2 lb pork ribs
    1/2 lb turkey
    1/2 lb pulled pork
    1 pint beans
    1 pint elote

Tax & Tip included in the total above. Was about $310 for the food alone.

How many people did that feed? I can imagine 4-6 adults eating everything and I still cannot defend paying 65-90$ for that.

  17. Kal_Wikawo

They put the bbq sauce in the bowls so it looks like more food

  18. Alternative_Dot_9640

Looks delicious! I’m guessing those beef ribs are what spiked the price a bit, and I bet it was worth it!

  19. Admirable-Error-2948

if it was half that price I’d still be like damn that’s expensive.

  20. Phill_is_Legend

$400 and they just slapped down an unopened loaf of bread from the grocery store 🤣💀

  21. This is ridiculously priced. That spread shouldn’t be anymore than $75-$100 at most.
