What kind of pest do y’all think did this? Any way for me to prevent it?

  1. I have caught birds doing this to my tomatoes in the past. They’re trying to get to the liquid in the tomato. I put out a bird bath and they’ve left my tomatoes alone since then.

Looks like some kind of worm. Tomato hornworms eat the leaves and fruit. Look for little black droppings then look up and you should catch the culprit. Another option is using a black light when it is dark to see the worms. BT spray will help keep them at bay

Squirrels are known to hydrate by eating tomatoes. I’ve never seen it but heard of it.

  4. Might be the hornworms. Their poop is very easy to spot. Just look for tiny black balls of poop on the leaves. Black light also helps finding the actual worm.
