We’ve been up since 2:45 AM watching Mr. heater and making sure he doesn’t run out of fuel. We believe we did good. Now we’re on the upswing and it’s time to get to planting. What are we growing this year? Be sure and leave your comments and tell us what you are growing in your garden, this spring and summer.

Glad your plants are OK. I knew you could do it. Let's hope this is the last frost. Cold here today too.
😢 my 6 tomato plants froze looks like my back ups are needed
Lost our tomatoes, but everything else looks good. Pray this is the last freeze of the season! Glad you are good! ♥️
Good morning glory! Yes a bit chilly.
That’s very cold for your area 😮 It was 12 degrees & minus 2 windchill this morning in southwest PA.
It got 34 here.
I know you said your vining beans get too hot. Have you ever tried to grow them in a place where they can get afternoon partial shade?
Also, glad you made through all the crazy weather!
I hate to say this but you guys use a lot of energy..
But its your guys life.
Glad you guy's made . Southeast Texas here and so far so good .
Oh yeah , corn ..never could grow it successful either. Almost made last fall . Hopefully it will go great for you !
Despite being covered lost all the tomatos and the cabbage brocolli are pretty crispy :(. 28 degrees in NE TX
It got down to 30 here by Greenville. It’s still only 34. I have my peas covered but will wait a bit before I uncover them. I will be covering them again tonight.
That was a close one!😮 good job you two…it's all looks fabulous ❤
We didn't freeze, but 40 this morning was a wee bit nippy! We are supposed to be cool most of the week, and then SUMMER, next weekend..straight to hot. I need to get my hind end out this week, and take care of some last minute cleanup. We ( I) have plans to make my back porch, my harvest area. We have a stainless table and a old laundry sink. The "plan" is to get it set up so that I can take my veggies right there and get them cleaned, and ready for processing. I become a procrastinator when I have to make a mess 😆At least this way, the mess will stay outside and not all over my kitchen.
When we lived in Texas, the only way we could grow corn was in trenches we dug 6-8 inches deep, gradually filling as the corn grew. Kept the roots deeper and also helped it stand against the Texas winds.
Glad all is well with your plants. It was a close call. Will be a busy week indeed. Wrapped the citrus trees at the trunks and most of the foliage. Time to go unwrap them. Looking at the tops this morning, they are fine. Will be planting my corn in this week (I started in the house). Also have cucumbers, melons, squash, peppers and tomatoes to move outside to harden off.
Been told this summer will be worse then last year.
Either way I am planting more Determinates then I ndeterminate's. Tomtoes(earlygirl, red snapper, hossinator, Black Krim, Brandywine, sweet100, amish, Opalka, abu rawana, dwarf, Top bunch callard, stonehead cabbage, brocolli, cauliflower, peppers, pink eye purple peas, squash, chinese long bean, bok choi, malibar spinach
I’m still waiting for all the snow to melt to see if my garden survived the 3rd round of Texas snow.
Everything held on. Praise the Lord!

That heater idea is a good one. It's really cold here in southern WV, 16° this morning only 21° rest of the night. I haven't planted any thing outside yet. Just a few peas so far. Glad that you were able to save your plants.
We hit 16 degrees here in NE OK, My Broccoli and Cauliflower that's already planted outside doesn't look to hot today, we'll see if they recover.
Jill,. I just wanted to say"thank you so much"!!! I was one of the winners in your seed giveaway. I live in West Texas, myself, my daughter and twin granddaughters. We rent a mobile home just on the outskirts of a little town. Our garden consist of pots on the porch, pots in front of the sliding glass door off the kitchen and a covered greenhouse. I just want you to know what a blessing you afforded us with your giveaway. I was trying to figure out how to purchase more.
God works in mysterious ways 🙏
We're keeping one foot in the trenches and one foot in the kingdom… eyes on the cross!
God bless you and your family always,
Much love and respect

32 here in the Mid Cities. No frost! So inspection of my tomatoes which were planted two weeks ago, show no visible damage. I did cover them. Peppers, cucumbers, and Okinawa sweet potatoes are still all potted up and protected, but I'll be out there planting this week. Last year was horrible and Im hopping for a more normal Fall season this year.
what a beautiful garden
I got zero germination on my Peron tomato seeds. Still trying to get pepper seeds to germinate. I'm exhausted from keeping my greenhouse warm this winter. Up at 3:30 this morning to stoke the fire.
Do you find having a greenhouse worth the cost when you have 7 months of triple digit temps? What do you use it for during the summer?
The thing I am most excited about trying this year are Chadwick cherry tomatoes. I think cherry tomatoes in general seem to be somewhat heat tolerant, and these were recommended by someone who said they were still producing last summer when my sweet 100s and other cherries were taking their break. We shall see.
Wow Jill your plants look amazing. My seedlings are still less than an inch tall. not sure if they will make it. glad you are way ahead with the high tunnel
A week ago I planted peppers, tomatoes, sweet potatoes and malabar spinach in the greenhouse, not bad for zone 5 Michigan. Gotta love wood heated hoop houses they have increased my growing season from 5 months to 9.
Hey Jill girl!! That was pretty cold. I covered my citrus and the potato tops. It was 28 here. Don't understand that exactly unless it is the humidity from the Gulf that brings that temp down a little right here.
Question for ya—-looking at your plants on the ground or in the ground in the tunnels. Do you have your thermometer low to the ground in the tunnels? Is that the temp you are most concerned about? Down low? Since heat rises…
You know you always get my brain into question mode of how you guys do all the awesome stuff you pull off.
Cause you know there is a whole herd of us tromping along in your and Greg's footsteps learning from you guys. Thanks a million as always. Jesus bless.
Hang in there!
I am in Houston TX and I am so ready to have everything planted 😅 So far I tested out a few peppers and tomatoes and most are still looking good. I will plant more this weekend. Thanks for sharing 💜
