(WIAT) &#8212; An Alabama chef with ties to Nepal is collecting donations to help people affected by deadly flooding in her home country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Prarthana Pandey Upadhyay, owner of Dolle Mo Mo, moved to Alabama from Nepal more than two decades ago. She now runs a catering business specializing in Nepalese cuisine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">But Pandey Upadhyay says her heart is still in Nepal, which is why she plans to donate a portion of her proceeds this weekend to help people affected by the flooding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;It&#8217;s in a very rural area. It&#8217;s a very, very village area. So people have worked really hard to open a small business, their houses and everything. So it just destroyed \u2026 suddenly,&#8221; Pandey Upadhyay said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Pandey Upadhyay said watching videos of the deadly flooding in Nepal has been heartbreaking. She was born and raised in Nepal but now lives in Central Alabama, where she runs her catering business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Momo is a very Nepali food. Everybody knows Momo, it&#8217;s a dumpling,&#8221; Pandey Upadhyay said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Now, she is using those dumplings to help people affected by the flooding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This weekend, Pandey Upadhyay will be at the Pepper Place Farmers Market in downtown Birmingham. She said she will donate a portion of her proceeds to help flood victims in Nepal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Whatever we sell, the tips, we are doubling the tips and donating to the rescue, you know, however we can, and planning to do more events so we can, you know. So I&#8217;ve been working really hard so that we make enough food,&#8221; Pandey Upadhyay said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She said her country needs thoughts and prayers, but also donations of any amount.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We could love thoughts and prayers, but yes, the important thing is just donating whatever you can.
