Three new restaurants and a kiosk featuring some Filipino dishes have recently opened in Bloomington. Two are downtown on East Kirkwood Avenue, one is in Winslow Plaza on the south side and the kiosk is in College Mall.<\/p>\n

Roll ‘n Dip and Ciao Bella open downtown<\/p>\n

Both Roll ‘n Dip and Ciao Bella are located in the former Cafe Pizzaria building at 405 E. Kirkwood Ave.<\/p>\n

Roll ‘n Dip is a new build-your-own Mexican restaurant on East Kirkwood Avenue just across the street from the Monroe County Public Library.<\/p>\n

Roll ‘n Dip offers Mexican fare \u2014 burritos, bowls, tacos and quesadillas \u2014 in a build-your-own style. The protein options are chicken, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas and veggie. Roll ‘n Dip’s special options are a quesabirria with birria meat, three corn tortillas, melted cheese, cilantro, onion and lime; and roll ‘n dip taquitos made with corn tortillas that can be dipped into a variety of cheeses and sauces. It’s open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.<\/p>\n

Ciao Bella is next door. In fact, customers can walk between the two inside as well as outside. The Italian restaurant has craft-your-own pizza and pasta options as well as specialty pizzas including truffle, margherita, veggie and prosciutto and arugula. Starters include meatballs, baked artichoke and spinach dip, cheese bread, Caprese crostinis and Bella fries, which are topped with bacon and warm queso.<\/p>\n

Ciao Bella is an Italian restaurant now open oat 405 E. Kirkwood Ave., Bloomington.<\/p>\n

Salad options include house, Caesar, spinach and apple, Italian (romaine, red onion, cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, pepperoncini, prosciutto, pepperoni, crumbed feta and black olives) and a spring salad with red onion, strawberries, mandarin oranges and feta.<\/p>\n

House-made pasta includes chicken fettuccine alfredo, chicken parmesan, spaghetti, chicken tortellini, lobster ravioli, Tuscan shrimp, spaghetti and meatballs and shrimp scampi.<\/p>\n

Desserts include homemade gelato and tiramisu. Beer and wine are available.<\/p>\n

A variety of Mexican baked goods are available at Pan Nito Bakery in the Winslow Plaza on Bloomington’s south side.<\/p>\n

A new Mexican bakery has opened at 339 Winslow Road in the Winslow Plaza. Pan Nito Bakery offers cochas, pan dulce, cinnamon-sugar coated doughnuts and sweet breads, some filled with fruity jam.<\/p>\n

Pan Nito will be open 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

Owner Carlos Aca said the style of baking is from the Guerrero area of Mexico, providing traditional Mexican style baked goods. As fall begins, he plans on offering pumpkin conchas and pan Muerto.<\/p>\n

In the future he plans to add special drinks including Agus Frescas including Horchata, Agua de Jamaica and more sweet options. Coffee will be added since it’s a great combination with the baked goods, Aca said.<\/p>\n

Pinoy Garden Cafe opens College Mall kiosk<\/p>\n

Pinoy Garden Cafe has been creating Filipino food for the Bloomington area as well as at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for some Indiana Pacers games for years.<\/p>\n

Both pork and chicken barbecue skewers are available at the Pinoy Garden Cafe kiosk inside College Mall in Bloomington.<\/p>\n

Now it’s opened a kiosk in College Mall near the food court. A post by College Mall states that Pinoy Garden Cafe is the first food establishment to bring authentic Filipino food to a Simon Property Group mall. It’s also significant that the kiosk is in College Mall, which was the first mall built and owned “from scratch” by the Simon Property company.<\/p>\n

Pinoy Garden will offer chicken hibachi with fried rice, flame-grilled pork or chicken barbecue skewers, chicken lumpia and veggie pancit noodles.<\/p>\n

This week the kiosk will be open noon to 2 p.m. Thursday through Sunday for lunch and 4-6 p.m. for dinner.<\/p>\n
