The place is filled with seniors and hikers having a chill breakfast after a sweat-inducing trek. Each piece featured chewy prawns and fresh pork, offering a texture and taste that was worlds apart from the ones we have in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Duen Kee - char siew bao\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"642\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.diningandcooking.com\/restaurants\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/sethlui.com\/ea065e58fd2e42d8ff799c42d9144c0e.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Duen Kee &#8211; char siew bao<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Char Siew Bao (HKD18\/S$2.93) arrived in a pair and was generously stuffed with moist char siew pieces. Possessing a mochi-like texture, the cakes had a mild herby taste which wasn&#8217;t overpowering (thankfully).<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Duen Kee - chee cheong fun\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"504\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.diningandcooking.com\/restaurants\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/sethlui.com\/14f0e3d20471ddf25c87aba22f34e302.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Duen Kee &#8211; chee cheong fun<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">There were a few selections of rice rolls to choose from and after much deliberation, we chose the Beef Cheung Fun (HKD28\/S$4.56). The skin was silky smooth and possessed the perfect thickness, encasing tender pieces of beef within.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The soy-based sauce beneath filled every nook and cranny of the roll, imparting an aromatic and savoury flavour that perfumed my taste buds.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Duen Kee - porridge\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"642\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.diningandcooking.com\/restaurants\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/sethlui.com\/837c75d85d7708ce7b260254a46c6936.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Duen Kee &#8211; porridge<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Century Egg Pork Congee was crowned with fried wanton skins and sliced spring onions. As simple as it looked, I was blown away by how thick, luxurious and flavourful it was. I can already hear some of you thinking, &#8220;Ew! Won&#8217;t fermented beancurd taste weird?&#8221; The combination was unique and surprisingly worked well together.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The furu\u00a0added a pungent, creamy, and salty touch to the fresh, naturally sweet watercress.
