{"id":14219,"date":"2026-08-22T13:41:35","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T13:41:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diningandcooking.com\/restaurants\/14219\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T13:41:35","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T13:41:35","slug":"beloved-visalia-mexican-eatery-shuts-down-after-36-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diningandcooking.com\/restaurants\/14219\/","title":{"rendered":"Beloved Visalia Mexican eatery shuts down after 36 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VISALIA<\/p>\n<p>Iconic Visalia restaurant BT\u2019s Buns and Torts closed its doors this week after 36 years serving customers.<\/p>\n<p>The popular restaurant, known for its Mexican food, pebble ice and pink to-go taco salad containers, closed Aug. 17 after more than three decades on South Money Boulevard in Visalia.<\/p>\n<p>Customers were greeted by a letter posted Monday morning at the restaurant letting them know it had shut its doors, according to news reports. It is unclear why the restaurant closed.<\/p>\n<p>According to The Visalia Times Delta, in the letter, BT\u2019s staff thanked customers for \u201callowing us to serve you for 36 unforgettable years. We will always cherish the memories and the people who made this journey so special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BT\u2019s website said the restaurant was a \u201cdestination for authentic Mexican cuisine in Visalia,\u201d brining the \u201crich traditions of Mexican cooking to the heart of California.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>People took to social media to share memories of local eatery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBT\u2019s was a local favorite to many Visalians.
