Hawksmoor has never needed to.

For two decades, the London-born steakhouse has built its reputation the slow way: dry-aging beef properly, grilling it over charcoal, and trusting that people who care about a well-made Martini will find their way to the bar. On September 8th, that trust extends to Fort Point, where Hawksmoor opens its third U.S. location and fifteenth restaurant overall, on the ground floor of 15 Necco Street.

The space seats 280 across the main dining room and a 2,000-square-foot terrace overlooking Fort Point Channel, open for lunch, dinner, and Sunday Roast. Co-founders Will Beckett and Huw Gott have described Boston’s pull as more than opportunistic: a city with history worth respecting and a restaurant scene worth joining, not disrupting.

The room leans into that same restraint: dark blue and green paneling, leather and velvet seating, wood and brass-topped tables, and enough natural light off the channel to feel like a well-worn London institution rather than a new build. Servers dress relaxed and follow Hawksmoor’s ethic, work hard and be nice to people, which sounds simple until you’ve eaten somewhere that doesn’t bother.

Steak is the point. Salted heavily with Maldon sea salt and cooked over charcoal at serious heat before resting to lock in the juice, it’s sourced from producers committed to regenerative farming, including Georgia’s Châtel Farms and 1855 Black Angus Beef out of the Great Plains. Every steak arrives with roasted bone marrow on the side, and crispy beef fat hash browns round out the signature sides.

Seafood gets equal attention, most of it local: oysters from Nantucket’s Pocomo Meadow, scallops from Georges Bank, and a Lobster Frites built on wild Maine lobster. The Fish and Chips uses Massachusetts haddock with beef-fat chips, while a new Beer Battered Fish Butty offers a sandwich-shaped take with jalapeño tartar and American cheese. Boston also gets its own burger, the Fort Point Burger, with melty Ogleshield, spiked mayo, and a dill pickle.

Executive Chef Thomas Park, previously of Saltie Girl and Uchi Austin, leads the kitchen, bringing a background in seafood technique and a stated pull toward Hawksmoor’s sourcing discipline and team culture.

Sundays bring the Hawksmoor Roast, a mainstay across every location: slow-cooked dry-aged beef, Yorkshire puddings, dripping-roasted potatoes, and a bone marrow and onion gravy that makes brunch feel beside the point.

The bar runs just as deep. Boston’s new North End Espresso Martini, built with pistachio butter, hazelnut, and matcha, joins standards like the Sour Cherry Negroni and Shaky Pete’s Ginger Brew. Martinis remain the headline act, including the Duke’s Hotel-inspired Direct Martini, poured at a glacial -2°F, alongside New England beers like Brighton’s Widowmaker Comet IPA and a properly poured Guinness.

Dessert has its own following: Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Grand Rocher, joined by a new Fluffernutter Sundae and Warm Beef Dripping Doughnuts, served tableside with maple bacon and custard.

Hawksmoor has ranked No. 2 on the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants list for two consecutive years, with a bar program named a 2025 James Beard Award semifinalist and two-time Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Award winner for Best International Restaurant Bar. The company has been named a Best Place to Work for fifteen consecutive years and holds B Corp certification. Boston marks the brand’s fifteenth restaurant, opening in its twentieth anniversary year.

For more information on Hawksmoor Boston, visit their website, follow them on Instagram or book a table.

For more information on Hawksmoor Boston, visit their website, follow them on Instagram or book a table.

There’s a particular kind of confidence that comes from not needing to shout.
