Kolkata, INDIA, August 28th, 2026:\u00a0The\u00a0National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) Kolkata Chapter, in association with\u00a0Ownly, hosted an exclusive\u00a0NRAI x Ownly Partner Meet at \u00d8lterra, Kolkata, with nearly\u00a0120 restaurant brands\u00a0participating in an evening of networking, engagement and discussions around the evolving food delivery ecosystem.<\/p>\n
The event was led by Piyush Kankariya, Chapter Head, NRAI Kolkata, along with the Core Committee members of the Kolkata Chapter. Representing Ownly were Rizwan, VP \u2013 Supply; Amar Choudhary, VP \u2013 Restaurant Operations; and the wider Ownly team.<\/p>\n
NRAI, the apex representative body for India\u2019s restaurant industry, works towards creating a stronger and more conducive ecosystem for restaurants through industry advocacy, knowledge-sharing, networking and initiatives that support ease of doing business. Through its city chapters, the association creates forums for restaurant businesses to engage with industry stakeholders, exchange perspectives and address issues shaping the sector.<\/p>\n
The Partner Meet provided a platform for restaurant owners in Kolkata to engage directly with Ownly and understand its approach to food delivery. Created by Rapido, Ownly is a zero-commission food delivery platform that enables restaurants to retain their food-sale revenue without the traditional percentage-based commissions charged by conventional aggregators. Its model also aims to facilitate online menu pricing closer to dine-in prices, transparent distance-based delivery charges for customers, and greater opportunities for independent restaurants to compete in the digital delivery ecosystem.<\/p>\n
For NRAI, the engagement also reflects the association\u2019s focus on ensuring that emerging models in the food delivery ecosystem are understood through direct dialogue with restaurant businesses. NRAI emphasises three priorities for platforms such as Ownly: clear, written terms on fees and pricing; stable, predictable structures that do not change every quarter; and partnership with NRAI to share data, co-create best practices and ensure smaller operators are not left behind. The association will continue to monitor outcomes, share relevant data across its members and encourage replicable best practices across cities.<\/p>\n
The Kolkata engagement marked Ownly\u2019s third city partner meet, following meets in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. As Ownly continues to build its presence across India, these engagements provide a forum for the platform to connect directly with restaurant partners, understand their perspectives and discuss the opportunities and considerations associated with its model.<\/p>\n
