YORK, Pa. (WHTM) — A local seafood restaurant in York County suddenly closed its doors earlier this week.<\/p>\n
The Anchor Down Crab House, located at 6486 Lincoln Highway West in Thomasville, announced on the evening of Wednesday, September 3, that it has closed its doors effective immediately.<\/p>\n

“Effective immediately, Anchordown Crabhouse has closed its doors,” the owners shared on Facebook. “We want to take a moment to thank this incredible community for your support over the years \u2014 your loyalty and encouragement have meant more to us than words can express.”<\/p>\n
In a separate announcement, the owners, who took over the seafood restaurant in April 2025, explained that food and operational costs posed a challenge that eventually pushed them towards closing.<\/p>\n
“I know the closing happened quickly, and I understand that caught some people off guard. It wasn’t how we wanted things to end, either,” Anchor Down Crab House added. “There’s really no good way to make a decision like this, especially when you have employees and people you’ve gotten to know personally who are affected by it.”<\/p>\n
According to Anchor Down Crab House, they currently plan to list the property itself for sale with Rock Commercial Real Estate.<\/p>\n
“It’s a great property with a lot of history, and hopefully somebody else sees an opportunity there and takes it in a new direction,” Anchor Down Crab House explained. “We’d love to see someone come in and make it successful and keep that property as a part of the community.”<\/p>\n
