On the black market, used cooking oil apparently is deemed liquid gold. <\/p>\n

For Tiger’s Tale Bar & Grill and Tito’s Mexican Restaurant, thieves recently made off with $1700 of used cooking oil, which the owners typical sell to recyclers who use it for renewable biodiesel production, animal feed manufacturing, and industrial applications in in a wide variety of industrial products, including soaps, detergents, shampoos, cosmetics, and rubber.<\/p>\n

Montgomery Township police reported two recent incidents.<\/p>\n

On September 3 at 10:13 am, Montgomery Police responded to Tiger\u2019s Tale Restaurant for a reported theft of used cooking oil.\u00a0 The theft was discovered when an employee of the cooking oil recycling company arrived at the restaurant to remove the cooking oil.\u00a0 An unknown individual damaged the container holding the used cooking oil.\u00a0 The timeframe is uncertain, and the theft is estimated at $1,200.<\/p>\n

On September 5 at 10:06 am, Montgomery Police responded to Tito\u2019s Restaurant for a reported theft of used cooking oil.\u00a0 An employee discovered the theft after noticing damage to the container holding the used cooking oil.\u00a0The employee estimated the loss at $500.<\/p>\n

Flock Camera IDs Hit and Run Driver<\/p>\n

On August 20 at 11:42am, Montgomery Police responded to Route 206 near Nevius Boulevard for a motor vehicle crash.\u00a0 Sgt Giaccone spoke with the driver of a 2024 Subaru, a 66-year-old female from Somerset who reported her car was struck from behind by a white colored truck that subsequently fled southbound on Route 206 after the crash.\u00a0 Giaccone utilized the Flock Safety ALPR system to successfully identify the fleeing vehicle.\u00a0 Sergeant Giaccone spoke with the driver of the pickup truck, a 71-year-old Skillman man, who admitted to leaving the scene of the crash.\u00a0 The male was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident.\u00a0 There were no reported injuries.<\/p>\n

Flock Camera Helps Police Find Lost Family Members<\/p>\n

On September 4 at 10:48am, Montgomery Police were advised of an attempt to locate by Hillsborough PD of an elderly male with a neurocognitive disease operating a vehicle. Officer Stratton received a Flock Safety ALPR alert advising the vehicle had entered Montgomery Township on Route 518 near the Hopewell border.\u00a0 Officer Stratton responded to the area and was able to locate the vehicle.\u00a0 Officer Stratton stopped the vehicle and confirmed the operator was the subject in question.\u00a0 Officer Stratton coordinated with Hillsborough PD who transported a family member to their motor vehicle stop location.\u00a0 The family member drove the subject and the vehicle back to their residence.<\/p>\n

On September 6 at 7:05pm, Montgomery Police responded to a Belle Mead neighborhood after the parents of a neurodivergent juvenile male reported him missing.\u00a0 A few minutes after arriving in the neighborhood, Officer Kopyto located the juvenile and he was successfully reunited with his parents.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
