The seafood-forward restaurant and wine bar takes inspiration from Portugal and the Atlantic, with a menu built around fresh seafood, shareable plates, Portuguese wines and cocktails.

Think local oysters, grilled octopus, salt cod croquettes and cataplana, a Portuguese seafood stew, all served in a bright waterfront space that feels very Portland while still giving you a little taste of Portugal.

The New York Times Takes Notice

According to The New York Times, 16 writers and editors traveled around the country for this year’s list, ultimately choosing 50 restaurants. The list isn’t ranked, but Douro earned its place for the way it brings together coastal Portugal and coastal Maine, with just as much attention paid to local vegetables as seafood.

For a restaurant that opened less than a year ago, that’s a pretty impressive way to put itself, and Portland, on the national dining map.

20 “Under-the-Radar” Maine Craft Breweries

Thanks to our great listeners we were able to compile a list of many of Maine’s great “under-the-radar” craft breweries.

These great spots can be found across the state, and waiting for you to give them a try.

How many have you been to?

Gallery Credit: Chris Sedenka

TripAdvisor’s Top 10 Things to do in Portland, Maine

Looking for fun things to do in Portland, ME?
