BEND, Ore. — The power of human kindness is shining brighter than the flames roaring through Central Oregon.<\/p>\n
Dear Mom Cafe is offering free food for first responders and evacuees in the area. Co-owner Jattalee Chalernhinthong wants everyone working the front lines to feel appreciated and have a place to come and eat.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“This is our community, so we decided to give free meals for all firefighters, all the first responders and front line workers so you have a place to sit down, a place to fill up your stomach,” Charlernhinthog said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Luckey’s Woodsmen is re-launching the Hold the Line Fund. The restaurant is offering free food or a safe place to try and decompress — whatever you need — for those impacted by Central Oregon’s wildfires.<\/p>\n
You can go to either their Sisters or Bend locations where they are serving up a platter of kindness.<\/p>\n
“All I want to do is show people a little bit of love through what I know the power of food can give. And that’s what Lucky’s Woodsman is for. We’re for the community. We’re for standing strong. And we hope to inspire other businesses to hold the line, too,” Luckey’s Woodsman owner Jackson Higdon said.<\/p>\n
Luckey’s Woodsman is offering the same generosity to first responders working around the clock protecting homes and property.<\/p>\n
“We can easily see it coming, what was about to happen. I never wanted to believe it was going to happen, but this year, this summer, I felt like it’s bound to happen with the lack of snowpack. And so we wanted to raise money as soon as possible. But I know what it’s like to be evacuated myself. I don’t think you can be prepared,” Higdon said.<\/p>\n
