SIMPSONVILLE \u2014 Food Lion\u2019s newest store \u2014 and its fifth in the Simpsonville area \u2014 opened March 25.<\/p>\n
The 37,000-square-foot grocery store is situated on West Georgia Road near the intersection with Fork Shoals Road, about 5 miles west of Interstate 385. It\u2019s in a burgeoning suburb where farmland and fields meet strip malls and single-family homes in Greenville County.<\/p>\n
Food Lion hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning, and more than 250 customers waited in line for the event. Students from Woodmont High School greeted the crowd.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur team is excited to welcome neighbors into a store that\u2019s designed to make shopping easy, fresh and affordable,\u201d said Mike Strange, store manager of the new Food Lion. \u201cWe look forward to serving our neighbors with a shopping experience they can trust.\u201d<\/p>\n

The store will be open daily from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the newest location in South Carolina for the grocery chain, which is owned by Ahold Delhaize. That company, which previously owned the now-defunct Bi-Lo grocery chain, has said it would replace dozens of Bi-Lo stores when that brand was discontinued.<\/p>\n
The new Simpsonville Food Lion offers a broad range of products, including ready-to-eat, ready-to-cook and ready-to-heat meals, fresh produce, quality meats, and various organic, gluten-free and plant-based options.<\/p>\n
A walk-in garden cooler will ensure fresh produce, in-store prepared cut fruit, freshly made sushi and a self-service wing and hot favorites bar. The store also provides pickup and home delivery services placed through online ordering.<\/p>\n
The grocery store donated $2,500 to Harvest Hope Food Bank, which has a large facility off White Horse Road.<\/p>\n
Food Lion will also take over the former Bi-Lo on Rutherford Road and North Pleasantburg Drive in Greenville. It opened a new store outside Columbia earlier this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
