{"id":26529,"date":"2026-09-23T02:43:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-23T02:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diningandcooking.com\/us\/26529\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T02:43:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T02:43:13","slug":"some-barbecue-restaurants-are-pulling-brisket-and-ribs-from-their-menus-due-to-high-beef-prices-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diningandcooking.com\/us\/26529\/","title":{"rendered":"Some barbecue restaurants are pulling brisket and ribs from their menus due to high beef prices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (KIII) \u2014 Rising beef prices are forcing some Texas barbecue restaurants to remove items like brisket and ribs from their menus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">David Page, owner of Hoegemeyer\u2019s Barbeque Barn, said beef prices have gone up about 40 percent over the last two years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe beef prices have gone up &#8230; and that is a killer,\u201d Page said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to Page, the beef industry is facing multiple challenges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cA lot of restaurants have discontinued some products just because it\u2019s so cost-prohibitive to keep on the menu,\u201d Page said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Butter\u2019s Barbeque in Sinton announced in a recent Facebook post that it will no longer serve brisket, one of its staple dishes.<\/p>\n<p>Customers weigh in<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Eric Escamillo, a customer, said it\u2019s important to support local businesses during the price increases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cVery unfortunate and a reality of the situation that we\u2019re in&#8230; we all have to find a way to continue and help others to stay in the community,\u201d Escamillo said.<\/p>\n<p>Restaurant owners face tough choices<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">William Paul Sissamis, owner of Silverado Smokehouse, said the rising cost of beef has put businesses in a difficult position. He said keeping expensive menu items would require charging customers more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Sissamis said he would rather temporarily remove beef ribs from his menu than raise prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Restaurant owners also say high diesel prices have been driving up the cost of food.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KIII via CNN Newsource.
