Stop & Shop is lowering prices across all of its New Jersey supermarkets. The move comes as part of an effort to help make groceries more affordable for customers.\n<\/p>\n

As of May 18, shoppers at the Ahold Delhaize-owned chain\u2019s 47 local outposts will see price reductions on thousands of items spanning nearly every department, according to a press release.\n<\/p>\n

Price cuts cited in the announcement include:<\/p>\n

Beef top round London Broil from $10.79\/lb. to $7.99\/lb.
\nNathan\u2019s beef franks (eight count) from $7.99 to $5.79
\nStop & Shop whole rotisserie chicken from $7.99 to $6.99
\nTropicana orange juice (46 ounce) from $4.99 to $4.49
\nFreshly baked bagel from $1.29 to $0.99
\nAcme smoked salmon (12 ounce) from $21.99 to $17.99
\nStop & Shop baked kaiser rolls (six count) from $5.49 to $4.99
\nHand-decorated 7-inch single layer cake from $12.99 to $9.99
\nStop & Shop half & half cream (1 quart) from $3.49 to $2.99
\nBumble Bee solid white albacore tuna (5 ounce) from $2.29 to $1.99
\nStop & Shop brand sausage (16 ounce) from $4.99 to $3.99
\nStop & Shop fresh salmon from $10.99\/lb. to $9.99\/lb.<\/p>\n

In addition to its 47 stores in New Jersey, the Massachusetts-based chain has rolled out lower prices at its 93 locations in New York. The latest round of price cuts expands a program the grocer says it has implemented at more than 350 Stop & Shop stores across the Northeast.\n<\/p>\n

Stretching dollars<\/p>\n

The effort is tied to a transformation initiative unveiled two years ago. The turnaround focused on improving overall in-store experience for customers, Stop & Shop said.\n<\/p>\n

Other recent changes include a refresh of hot bars chainwide, as well as trimming the cost of these items by $1 per pound.<\/p>\n

The grocer noted that it also offers additional deals at its in-store savings station kiosks and through its weekly sales \u201cdeal locks\u201d that temporarily lower prices for certain items and meal deals.\n<\/p>\n

In a statement, Stop & Shop President Robert Wheeler said, \u201cWith affordability a top priority for families today, delivering meaningful savings with lower prices on thousands of items across our stores in New York and New Jersey marks an important milestone in our broader strategy.\n<\/p>\n
