More than 30 years after Huff\u2019s Food Town closed, the historic Brentwood property is returning to its roots as a neighborhood grocery store.<\/p>\n

NAI Nashville Stanton Group represented property owner Mike Huff in leasing the 24,350-square-foot building at 144 Wilson Pike Circle to Nashville Farmers\u2019 Storehouse, restoring the site to its original purpose.The site was previously home to Brentwood Interiors and, more recently, Stitchers Garden. The new market will bring grocery retail back to the historic property for the first time in more than three decades.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis wasn\u2019t simply about filling a vacancy. It was about finding a tenant that respected the property\u2019s history while bringing a unique retail concept to Brentwood,\u201d said Devin McClendon, CEO of NAI Nashville Stanton Group in a release.<\/p>\n

The Huff family purchased Food Town in 1949, when the store operated across the street, before constructing the Wilson Pike building in 1983. Known for its fresh-cut meats and seafood, bakery, deli, specialty cheeses and natural foods, Huff\u2019s Food Town became a longtime Brentwood landmark before closing in 1993.<\/p>\n

Since then, the building has housed several retail tenants, making its return to grocery use a significant milestone for the property.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am tremendously excited about my building returning to its original roots as a grocery store,\u201d Huff said. \u201cThe vision of the new local owners is similar to our family\u2019s mission of creating a fresh, healthy alternative to traditional national grocery chains.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nashville Farmers\u2019 Storehouse is an independently owned cooperative of farmers and families that connects producers directly with consumers. The Brentwood location will offer organic and locally sourced products and will also include a flour mill, bakery and pizzeria.<\/p>\n

Plans also call for a stage featuring local musicians as part of the store\u2019s retail experience. Construction is underway, with an opening date expected to be announced at a later time.<\/p>\n

Although separated by more than 30 years, Huff\u2019s Food Town and Nashville Farmers\u2019 Storehouse share a focus on supporting local producers, offering high-quality food and creating a community-centered shopping experience.<\/p>\n
