But now, to the delight of delicatessen fans, it\u2019s returning to a new spot, just a block from its former home, on Seventh Ave. at W. 54th St. The space formerly housed the Stage Deli \u2014 Carnegie Deli\u2019s gustatory rival during New York\u2019s \u201cpastrami wars\u201d \u2014 and more recently Roxy Delicatessen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe always knew the timing and the opportunity had to be right,\u201d said Sarri Harper, the business\u2019s third-generation CEO. \u201cWhen the former Stage Deli space became available, it felt incredibly fitting. Naturally, there will be the classics, including piled-high pastrami and corned-beef sandwiches on rye with D\u00fcsseldorf mustard and half-sour and sour pickles, along with matzo ball soup, knishes and all-beef footlong franks.<\/p>\n<p>A new temptation is the Carnegie Deli Colossus, \u201cthe tallest stack on the menu,\u201d heaped with pastrami, corned beef, turkey, Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing on rye.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"Carnegie Deli third generation and CEO Sarri Harper at the newly reopened Carnegie Deli in Midtown Manhattan. (Evan Sung)<\/p>\n<p>There will also be a breakfast menu, including omelettes \u2014 with a choice of pastrami, corned beef, salami or turkey \u2014 plus corned beef or pastrami hash, bagels and lox and latkes, or fried potato pancakes.<\/p>\n<p>Other new tantalizers include babka French toast, fried deli pickle chips, which the menu describes as \u201ccrispy, briny, impossible to stop eating,\u201d and the Full Lee Loaded Reuben Fries, \u201ca mountain of fries buried under pastrami, melted Swiss, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"The Full Lee Loaded Reuben Fries will be available at the newly reopened Carnegie Deli in Midtown Manhattan. (Photo by Evan Sung)<\/p>\n<p>Seating will be walk-in only, with waiter service, and there will be a deli counter. Beer and wine will be available. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.<\/p>\n<p>The 110-seat space has restored the look of the original, complete with\u00a0Carnegie Deli\u2019s legendary Wall of Fame. The photos of famous former guests include Sarah Jessica Parker, Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, Mel Brooks, Stevie Wonder, Conan O\u2019Brien, Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers and a young Venus Williams holding her own signature sandwich in 1998.
