Many. New. Food. Places.

Again, I’m always so impressed by the number of debut restaurants in Maine every month, and September 2026 delivered another solid number.

Nine spots opened their doors across the state last month, including various cafes, a pub, an Asian fusion spot, a restaurant with soul food and Ethiopian cuisine, a comfort food place, and even a remodel of an L.L. Bean staple that temporarily closed in 2023.

Maine Restaurants That Opened in September 2026

That L.L. Bean place mentioned? That’s the 1912 Cafe, which was part of the massive $50 million renovation of its flagship store in Freeport, Maine.

The freshly rebooted L.L. Bean features a lot of changes and upgrades, including a new two-tiered trout pond twice the size of the previous pond, a reimagined kids’ department where kids can actually play, and a larger and redesigned 1912 Cafe.

The retailer’s website highlights that the new cafe is about twice the size of the old one, features more seating, and has an updated menu.

I remember the previous version, before it closed in 2023, felt like a small corner in the massive building, but it looks like a much more distinct place to grab a bite to eat now.

Meanwhile, the Mustard Public House that just opened in Buxton definitely stands out for its bright yellow restaurant.

You can’t help but notice it.

Its website highlights the new eatery as the next chapter for a historic Maine landmark: before it was a restaurant, it was the Mustard House.

Just taking a look at some food pictures on its Facebook page really captures that eleveted comfort food vibe and makes me want to try all the options. Want to try all the options?

Hungry yet? I’m just getting started. Take a look at a bunch of restaurants that opened in September you’ll want to check out.

9 Maine Restaurants That Opened in September 2026

Gallery Credit: Sean McKenna

It’s hard to pick just one place to visit, right?

Thankfully, there’s no rule that says you can’t visit all of them. In fact, a ton of new restaurants have opened this year.

Ready for the ultimate foodie road trip?

9 New Restaurants That Opened in Maine in August 2026

Gallery Credit: Sean McKenna

11 New Maine Restaurants That Opened in July 2026

Gallery Credit: Sean McKenna

10 New Maine Restaurants That Opened in June 2026

Gallery Credit: Sean McKenna

15 New Maine Restaurants That Opened in May 2026

Gallery Credit: Sean McKenna

8 New Maine Restaurants That Opened in April 2026

Gallery Credit: Sean McKenna

7 New Maine Restaurants That Opened in March 2026

Gallery Credit: Sean McKenna

12 New Restaurants That Opened in Maine in February 2026

Gallery Credit: Sean McKenna

5 Maine Restaurants That Opened in January 2026

Gallery Credit: Sean McKenna

So.
