A Reopening Date Was Coming…Now We Know<\/p>\n
The Sauk Centre Chamber of Commerce shared last week that El Mezcal would be reopening in the near future, but a date wasn’t attached to that online announcement. Yesterday afternoon, the Sauk Centre Chamber of Commerce shared the news that the opening date for El Mezcal would be tomorrow, Wednesday, October 28th.<\/p>\n
This Wednesday, 10\/28\/26 at 5 PM is the Ribbon Cutting Celebration! The public is welcome to join! Take a sneak peek at their bright new restaurant space.<\/p>\n
This Thursday, 10\/29\/26 is OPENING DAY!!! Pedro, Maria, and their team will be serving from 11 AM to 9 PM! (So of course, this would not be the ideal time to take him away from the kitchen for a ribbon-cutting. They are so excited to see you, and we are so excited to see them too!)<\/p>\n
*** Please note: Due to the excitement surrounding the reopening of one of our favorite local dining spots, we expect there may be longer lines and wait times than usual at first. We appreciate your patience as the El Mezcal team gets back into the swing of things and looks forward to serving you again.”<\/p>\n
May 11th, 2026, The Night Of The Fire<\/p>\n
On May 11th at 11:50pm a fire was reported by a passing police officer in a\u00a0two-story building at the corner of Main Street South and Sinclair Lewis Avenue in downtown Sauk Centre. Once the fire was put out,\u00a0it was determined that the fire, smoke, and water caused significant damage to El Mezcal and two other downtown businesses, as well as five to six second-story apartments.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, there were no injuries, but two cats did die in the fire.<\/p>\n
Great News For Downtown Sauk Centre<\/p>\n
It’s great news for downtown Sauk Centre to see El Mezcal opening back up, as early on it didn’t seem like a given that it would.<\/p>\n
If you plan on stopping by, note that there will more than likely be longer lines and wait times, so on top of your appetite, bring along some patience.<\/p>\n

This weekend was a great one to get out and do something fun. I wanted to destress, so I drove over to Clemens Gardens for a nice stroll through the gardens. What a beautiful place it is. There are flowers everywhere, as well as fountains and statues. These photos only capture part of what’s available to see, but in case you haven’t had a chance to visit, now is a great time to view them, as everything is in full bloom.
