Whataburger and Dallas Cowboys fans. They’re everywhere, for better or for worse, and more often than not you’ll find a Cowboys fan inside a Whataburger, likely recovering from another heartbreaking loss. Yet for all those fans longing for a return to the glory days, there is at least good news when it comes to Texas’ No. 1 burger chain.
One of the Whataburger restaurants in Irving is set to undergo a $400,000 upgrade next month, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). The project aims at “replacing and relocating hoods and replacing drive thru with a sliding door,” starting on October 20 and wrapping up by December 1. However all TDLR timelines are subject to change without notice.
Located at 850 Market Place Blvd., Irving, TX 75063, the restaurant stands as one of four Whataburgers operating inside the Irving city limits. For those who don’t know, Irving was formerly home to Texas Stadium, the home field for the Dallas Cowboys from 1971 until its demolition in 2010. The Cowboys won all five of their Super Bowls while playing at Texas Stadium. Is it a coincidence the same luck hasn’t followed into Arlington? Who’s to say. Regardless, Irving and its Whataburgers will forever remain a place where Cowboys fans can mourn the good ole days.
The upgrade was one of two TDLRs submitted by Whataburger on Friday, September 18. The other saw an identical $400,000 slated for the restaurant at 2710 FM 407, Highland Village, TX 75077. As before, that project aims to be finished by December 1, barring any changes to the timeline.
