Shenzhen made its debut in the Michelin Guide on August 18, with seven restaurants earning the southern Chinese city’s first Michelin stars. The selection was unveiled at an event announcing the Michelin Guide Guangzhou & Shenzhen 2026, held at the Grand Hyatt Shenzhen in Luohu district.

Two Shenzhen restaurants received two Michelin stars while five earned one star each. Neither Shenzhen nor Guangzhou, however, claimed the guide’s highest honour: three Michelin stars.

In total, 176 venues were recognised at the event, including five two-Michelin-star restaurants, 22 one-Michelin-star restaurants, 73 Bib Gourmand recipients – an accolade given to venues offering good value for money – and 76 Michelin-selected venues.

In another first, the guide announced its inaugural Michelin Mentor Chef Award for Guangdong, which went to Huang Jinghui, better known as chef Fei. The award honours industry veterans who have generously shared their knowledge with the next generation of chefs. The Chaoshan native’s Guangzhou restaurant, Jiang by Chef Fei, received one star in 2018 and was upgraded to two stars in the 2019 edition. His newer Shenzhen venue, The Bay by Chef Fei, debuted with two Michelin stars.

In a social media post, the restaurant described the accolade as “a proud milestone, and a tribute to the enduring artistry of Chinese cuisine”.

The Bay is joined in the two-star category by Yun Jing, a Cantonese fine dining venue led by chef Guo Yuanfeng.
