Sharing a picture from a hospital bed, she asked her followers for their prayers and support. “I have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Need your prayers and support,” she wrote.Around the same time, she shared a video from the hospital, accompanied by the words, “Going for tests and more tests…..not a happy place to be.”The following day, Pankaj revealed that she was undergoing surgery. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the procedure, she remained hopeful and wrote that she knew she would “bounce back”, while once again asking her followers to keep her in their prayers. She later revealed that the surgery had been successful. However, her post-surgery biopsy reports detected a 2mm invasive HER2-positive component. Following the findings, doctors advised her to undergo 12 sessions of chemotherapy along with one year of targeted therapy.Throughout her treatment, Pankaj has also spoken openly about the emotional challenges that came with chemotherapy. Hair loss, in particular, proved to be one of the more difficult aspects of the journey. Before starting chemotherapy, she decided to cut her long hair short on her own terms. Sharing her thoughts ahead of treatment, she wrote, “I begin with my chemotherapy. Who knows what chemotherapy might throw my way. Hair loss or not, Let me enjoy what I have, when I have, in the way I want to have.”When the hair loss eventually began, however, Pankaj admitted that knowing it was coming did not make the experience easier. Sharing a picture of herself combing her hair and looking at the strands that had fallen out, she wrote, “You know it. You are prepared for it. But when it hits you, it hits hard.”She described losing her “thick strong hair” as traumatic, while remaining hopeful that it would eventually grow back. Now, with her latest message, Pankaj is looking beyond the difficult chapters of her treatment. Her reminder to women is simple: prioritising regular health checks and catching a disease early can make a crucial difference. For her, cancer may have become part of her story, but as she herself put it, “it will never be the whole story.”
