Chef Jernard, had to step away from the stove to chat it up with Jasmine Sanders about their upcoming trip on the party with a purpose. “Somebody gotta feed these hungry, amazing people out here,” he laughed, “so it might as well be me.” on the One Voyage 2026 Cruise.

Ten Years Strong: Chef Jernard’s Return to One Voyage and the Mission Behind the Meal

This year marks Chef Jernard’s 10th year sailing with One Voyage, a milestone that clearly means a lot to him. An HBCU alum himself, he’s proud to support a cruise built around keeping HBCU students enrolled, supported, and thriving. “We doing it all with a purpose,” he told Jasmine. “It’s a party with a purpose.”

The purpose comes with plenty of flavor. Chef Jernard is once again taking over the ship’s test kitchen aboard the Resilient Lady, transforming it into “Cornbread and Butter at Sea,” a floating version of his beloved restaurant. “The stuff they experience when they come to the restaurant,” he said, “regardless of where you are, you gonna get it out in the middle of the ocean with us.”

So what’s on the menu? Get ready. Chef Jernard is bringing short ribs, sweet potatoes, collard greens, honey buttermilk cornbread, and his signature sweet tea brine pressure fried chicken. “Butter makes everything better,” he reminded her. Jasmine wasn’t mad about it, joking that last year’s food had her up twelve pounds and ready to buy clothes two sizes too big.

Beyond the Kitchen: Legendary Entertainment, Endless Dining, and a Celebration 25 Years in the Making

Beyond the kitchen, Chef Jernard has soaked up plenty of magic over the years, sharing the ship with legends like Stevie Wonder, Babyface, The Isley Brothers, and Charlie Wilson. For its 25th anniversary, One Voyage is going bigger than ever. The lineup features TI, Rick Ross, Keith Sweat, Confunkshun, the SOS Band, Original Lakeside, and Tony Terry, among others.

“It’s gonna be a lot of dancing. People gonna be up all night,” Chef Jernard promised. And when the party’s rolling, folks need food that’ll hold them down. Between his kitchen, the ship’s 20-plus restaurants, and this year’s new seafood boils, nobody’s going hungry.

“Not only is a mind a terrible thing to waste, but so is a good plate.”
