Emmy award-winning celebrity chef and former “Top Chef” contestant Ryan Scott will close his food trailer, the Cafe by Ryan Scott 2 Go, in Marin County at the end of the month.
The cafe, along with From, Ryan, his private event venue, on 1119 San Anselmo Ave. in San Anselmo, will both permanently close because of “ongoing and unresolved issues” with the landlord, Scott wrote in an Instagram post.
“Making this choice is not a sign of giving up,” the post reads. “But rather a smart and necessary business decision to move on from a difficult situation that no longer serves our mission or our community’s needs.”
The landlord did not respond to requests for comment.
Since opening in July 2024, the trailer became known for dishing out high-concept seasonal comfort food – blueberry pistachio turnovers, wild caught crawfish rolls, candied spare ribs with cornbread – from a tiny space, where diners ate outdoors on patio chairs and small tables. The trailer’s last day will be Sunday, June 28.
After competing on “Top Chef” Season 4 in 2008, Scott hustled non-stop on the TV circuit – he told Eater in 2016 he traveled 200 days a year – appearing on network shows including “The Today Show,” “Good Morning America” and the “Rachel Ray Show,” eventually winning two Emmy awards for his syndicated cooking show “Food Rush.”
Now primarily in the catering business, the trailer was Scott’s only restaurant, though he was involved in several by-gone San Francisco ventures, including Market & Rye, Finn Town and Mission Beach Cafe. He is also the author of two cookbooks, “One to Five” and “The No-Fuss Family Cookbook,” and host of his radio show, “The Ryan Scott Show.”
While the cafe and event space are closing, Scott said his 20-year-old catering business and his team are “not going anywhere.”
