BEST-SELLING celebrity chef Yotam Ottolenghi is set to open his first Scottish restaurant.
The British-Israeli cook, known for his inventive vegetable-focused recipes which draw on Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours, is set to open an eatery in central Edinburgh on October 2.
The new Ottolenghi restaurant – on George Street in the capital – will be led by the Skye-born executive chef Neil John Campbell, outlet magazine The Caterer reported.
A statement announcing the opening on the Ottolenghi Edinburgh website says: “We’ve been asked more times than we can count when we’d open in Scotland. And here we are – about to open our doors in the heart of Edinburgh, on George Street.

“From October, Ottolenghi Edinburgh will be an all-day dining spot with a menu that celebrates the local land and sea – langoustines off the east coast, fresh crowdie cheese and heritage whisky – but in a style that is unmistakably ours.
“For breakfast, we’re serving well-fired morning rolls, at lunch and dinner it’s sharing plates and slow cooked dishes that arrive in hand-made clay pots. The cocktails and wine lists riff of what’s happening in the kitchen.”
The George Street restaurant will be open from 8am-3pm and 5pm-10pm from Monday to Thursday, from 8am-10:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 8am-10pm on Sundays.
The Edinburgh site will be the 13th Ottolenghi restaurant and the first in Scotland. Ottolenghi has ten restaurants across London, one in Geneva, and one in Amsterdam.
