The Rotten Tomato Company, a new meal prep store, says business has grown quickly since the August opening.
It sells house-made, single-serving entrees, salads, soups and desserts for takeout or delivery within 12 miles.
The colorful 22 S. Main St. storefront has several display cases but no seating.
Despite the name, the homemade pasta and its location in the home of the Pittston Tomato Festival, it is not focused on Italian food, said co-owner and chef Michael Langdon.

He appeared on “Hell’s Kitchen” with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay several years ago. Langdon’s regional experience includes Alter House Restaurant & Bar in Clarks Summit, Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic and the Huntsville Golf Club in Lehman Township.
The goal is fresh comfort food on demand seven days a week, for people who are busy or just uninterested in cooking that day.
“We saw a niche that wasn’t filled quite yet,” he said.
On a recent day, 150 orders of chicken marsala with ricotta cavatelli were snapped up in a few hours, he said.
Some of Friday’s entrees included meatloaf or vegetarian risotto for $13 and petite beef tenderloin for $16.
The menu changes about every 10 days. “So you’re not getting the same thing over and over,” said co-owner Kristen Favata.
Her husband, David Favata, is also a co-owner. As parents of student-athletes, they know how hard it is to get dinner on the table, she said.
They stock products from some local businesses, including Twisted Sourdough and Brace’s Orchard in the Back Mountain and Mike’s Sourdough in West Pittston.
The 12-mile delivery zone reaches into Wilkes-Barre and parts of Lackawanna County.

The new business received a special welcome from its neighbors, the honor of displaying the Carmelo Falcone MVP Memorial Trophy in the runup to the Battle of the Bridge, the Oct. 30 football game between Pittston Area and Wyoming Area.
