A longtime Columbus chef is adding a new restaurant concept to his plate.
Chef Jamie Honnell George is opening Sunday Gravy, a new Italian sandwich and pizza shop coming soon inside Short North Tavern at 674 N. High St. Sunday Gravy will fill the previous Pie of the Tiger space, which closed earlier this month.

Chef Jamie George teased the new concept in a recent Facebook post, confirming the menu details and a “coming soon” message. The concept’s Instagram bio reads, “Sunday Gravy. Served Everyday. Every Italian family had a pot going on Sunday. Meat simmering since morning. Nobody left hungry or in a hurry.”
The menu includes starters like Garlic Cheese Loaf with fresh mozzarella, pomodoro, and parmesan fondue, Crispy Mozzarella with cherry peppers, and Pimento Fritters with risotto and pistachio pesto. For mains, the menu promises Roman-style street pizza including pepperoni, spicy salami, mushroom white, and prosciutto. Also on the lineup is an assortment of Italian sandwiches, including a classic Italian sub, a meatball sub, and “The Big Parma” served with parmesan, a chicken cutlet, pomodoro, house cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. If that’s not enough to fill you up, they’ll have Italian desserts like tiramisu, cannolis, and “big ass cookies”.
Chef George has been a fixture in Columbus’ restaurant scene for decades, with a career that has included chef roles at Basi Italia, Trattoria Roma, Frezno Eclectic Kitchen, [‘plas], and Z Cucina, just to name a few. There isn’t an official opening date for Sunday Gravy quite yet, follow along here for updates and announcements.
