Chef Thomas Harvey offered an update on the future of the eatery.

Chef Thomas Harvey, owner of Harvey’s in Falls Church, says he’s sold the restaurant but the doors will stay open. “My staff is staying on and it will continue to be a Harvey’s just under new ownership,” Harvey told Northern Virginia Magazine.
Harvey will stay on until the end of September to help with the transition. The new owner, Andy Patel, is “also very community minded and will keep the spirit of Harvey’s alive and running,” Harvey says.
Favorable Reviews
The neighborhood eatery opened in March 2022 and has appeared on our 50 Best Restaurants list. “Sit down for a meal at casual Harvey’s and expect the kind of ingredient-obsessed service you’ll find at a fine-dining restaurant,” our critic wrote in 2025.
The restaurant was also highlighted by Vincent Badiee, chef at The Huntōn in Leesburg, in our April 2026 cover story, “Where Chefs Eat.”
“Chef Thomas [Harvey] is a character and loves what he does. It shows the moment you walk through the door and see the chalk art. It’s a soulful, happy place,” Badiee said.
Locals will still be able to find their favorite dishes on the menu. “The new executive chef is Emily Watt,” Harvey says. “She has been my chef de cuisine for the last 2 1/2 years and is very talented. She will keep the favorites dishes going strong and add new ones as well.”
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Harvey wrote, “Well the cats out of the bag I guess. I had to make a difficult decision recently and have sold Harveys.va to an amazing group of people. … To all of you who have come to dine at Harvey’s thank you for your support. I have gotten to know a lot of you and even become close friends with a lot of you. Thank you for making my vision become truth. … Please continue to support all small businesses. Falls Church gave my dream a home and it continues to live on.”
