Her San Francisco restaurant Atelier Crenn has already been awarded three Michelin stars – making her the only female chef in the country to hold that distinction, no less – and now Dominique Crenn has one more feather to put in her already very decorated cap: a splashy restaurant opening in Beverly Hills with a major fashion house.
According to WWD, Crenn is partnering with Dior to launch Monsieur Dior by Dominique Crenn, which will have its own standalone entrance on the iconic high-end shopping street Rodeo Drive this fall. The restaurant is planned for the third floor of Dior’s massive new Beverly Hills flagship, part of a broad luxury makeover that is redesigning one of America’s most famous streets. The opening marks San Francisco-famous Crenn’s first business venture in the Los Angeles market.
Crenn has already partnered with Dior once before, opening Cafe Dior in Dallas’ Highland Park Village last February. Unlike that location, though, Monsieur Dior will offer full dinner service, a first for Dior stateside. The dining room, WWD reports, will have floor-to-ceiling windows, and there will be a bar and a terrace as well, accommodating 105 guests total. The restaurant will be located next to the store’s homeware section and will serve meals on Dior tableware.
“Christian Dior is not just about fashion,” Crenn told WWD. “It’s about story. It’s about purpose. It’s about meaning. It’s about craftsmanship. It’s about being a bridge for the next generation. The alignment was very clear.”
Given Crenn’s reputation (and this being her first LA venture), reservations are sure to be tough to score. That said, Beverly Hills is already filled with famous chef names, from Wolfgang Puck and “Top Chef” winner Mei Lin to pasta star Evan Funke, who has his own multi-story restaurant nearby, backed not by a brand but by America’s most sought-after high-end real estate agent, Kurt Rappaport. This isn’t even the first time a major fashion house has partnered with a celebrated chef in Beverly Hills, no less: In early 2020, Gucci opened Gucci Osteria with Netflix-famous and Michelin-loved chef Massimo Bottura at the helm. That particular restaurant is also located on the top floor of the brand’s Rodeo Drive flagship.
