The wait is over for Emeril’s Chop House in Baton Rouge.
The internationally renowned chef’s entrance to his ribbon cutting last night was first heard before it was seen. Drums sounded across the room, and there was Emeril Lagasse walking red-carpet-bound with the Southern University drum line and Mike the Tiger.
The rest of the Southern University Human Jukebox Marching Band emerged from another entrance and broke into song. “Do Whatcha Wanna” echoed throughout the hall, and the room cheered. Afterward, a few figures spoke to the crowd, including Mayor Sid Edwards, who said this is proof that Baton Rouge is open for business.

“I’m going to tell you, Emeril,” Edwards said, placing a hand on Lagasse’s shoulder. “I was looking at another Chick-Fil-A, but then you showed up.”
Edwards called Emeril’s Chop House one of the crown jewels of the city and thanked Lagasse for choosing Baton Rouge. The mic soon made its way to the man of the hour, and champagne glasses filled hands throughout the room.
“Here’s a toast to all of you,” Lagasse said, raising his glass. “Emeril’s Chop House, Baton Rouge. Here we are.”
A red ribbon and four pairs of scissors later, Emeril’s Chop House is open for business. The restaurant is located on the third floor of L’Auberge Hotel & Casino (777 L’Auberge Ave.), formerly where 18 Steak was. The remodeled dining space spans 175 seats.
