Starting Sept. 30, Goldman is launching his first-ever live theater tour titled Duff Goldman Presents: The Tao of Duff, which will have stops in Seattle, San Francisco, Dallas, New York, Chicago and more.
Goldman rose to fame on Food Network’s Ace of Cakes, where he and his Charm City Cakes team used unconventional tools to build highly detailed custom cakes. He now mentors younger bakers on the network’s Baking Championship: Next Gen and serves as a judge on Holiday Baking Championship. In addition to his television efforts, Goldman is the author of a New York Times bestseller cookbook titled Super Good Baking for Kids.
Tao of Duff will take the audience on a “wild” journey through Goldman’s life as he recounts his own story, a news release said. The audience will hear about many key moments in Goldman’s life from interesting stories about his great-grandmother, to stints in fast food joints, fine-dining kitchens and metal bands, to building his widely-known cake empire.
Goldman will stretch dough live on stage, tell stories and crack jokes throughout the show. It will be “part history lesson, part baking class, part stand-up set,” the release said.
“I’m going to bake, tell stories nobody’s heard, and probably say something I shouldn’t. You can’t get that from a TV screen — you have to be in the room,” Goldman said in the statement.
Goldman’s show is coming to Oak Cliff’s historic Texas Theatre on Oct. 11, and the tour will continue through mid-November. Tickets are on sale now at www.duff.com.
