PLEASANT HILL, Mo. (KCTV) – A quiet historic corner of Cass County is getting the Hollywood treatment this week.
Production crews for the hit show “Kitchen Nightmares” is taking over Big Creek Cafe in downtown Pleasant Hill, Missouri. The usually quiet town of about 8,000 people is getting a little disruption this week as production trucks and Ramsay roll into town.
“We watch the show, we always have,” said Tammy Page, who came to downtown Pleasant Hill with her sister, Kim Baldwin, to potentially get a look at the famous chef.
“Our favorite quote is ‘you’re an idiot sandwich,’” Baldwin said.
While some regulars love Ramsay’s tough attitude, there’s hope for a balance between a fresh makeover and holding onto some beloved pieces of the old cafe.
“I like their fried chicken and tenderloin so I hope he leaves those alone,” said Leesa Reese.
“Something new, something a little updated. I wish they would keep the train; there’s a little train track that runs through there. My kids loved it,” said Pleasant Hill resident Stacy Teitelbaum.
Across the street, business is booming at Brown’s Vintage and Variety and owners are noticing the production crew’s presence.
“Saturday was really busy downtown at our farmer’s market,” said Julie Brown, the owner of Brown’s Vintage and Variety. “I think people are curious on what’s going to happen in Pleasant Hill.”
